The new member will be expected to contribute to the effective and efficient management of the procurement process for the goods and services required for its operation. He/She must combine management, negotiation, and logistics skills to maintain an uninterrupted supply flow, while optimizing costs and meeting quality standards.
- What are we looking for?
To implement the Cameroon platform’s interventions, PSI would like to recruit the skills of a Purchasing Assistant. Under the supervision of the Purchasing Coordinator, he/she will support the Purchasing Coordinator in the efficient and cost-effective procurement of goods and services. He/she will also be called upon to contribute to the achievement of operational excellence at PSI Cameroon, in compliance with quality standards and requirements, by mobilizing a wide range of operational know-how.

- Position Level: Junior
- Career level: S3
- Status: Local Post
- Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (2 years)
- Start date: April 2025
- Travel requirement: 15-30% of the time
- Reports to the Purchasing Coordinator
- The post holder will be placed on a salary scale in accordance with PSI Cameroon standards and will benefit from capacity building training to the extent that the platform allows.

For this position, the candidate will need to demonstrate, through previous experience, that they can effectively perform the tasks listed below. This list is not exhaustive and summarizes the main responsibilities and requirements. However, the incumbent may also be responsible for tasks not listed.
- Provide support to the Purchasing Coordinator in managing the department’s activities;
- Launch the processes according to the timing given by the procedures in force in the Purchasing department;
- Participate in sessions for reviewing and analyzing offers sent by suppliers and prepare supplier selection memos or reports;
- Contribute to the negotiation of the best conditions taking into account technical objectives and budgetary constraints in the interest of the organization;
- Receive invoices for payments from service providers;
- Ensure the updating of the database for monitoring commitments and monitoring supplier files;
- Ensure reporting for the purchasing department (prepare monthly reports);
- Ensure the control of supplier invoices and prepare their payment within the required timeframes following PSI Cameroon procedures;
- Prepare and monitor the publication of calls for tenders;
- Monitor the receipt and retention of submission offers;
- Organize the reception of orders;
- Ensure monitoring of the development and execution of market contracts (delivery time, payment and renewal terms);
- Ensure document management and archiving of purchasing documents according to the checklist;
- Ensure compliance with purchasing procedures by all PSI Cameroon employees;
- Carry out any other tasks related to your activities assigned to you by management.
- Education
- Minimum (Bac+3) in logistics, Supply Chain, Management, accounting, commerce.
- Experience
- Minimum two (02) years of relevant and significant professional experience in the field of purchasing or supply chain within a development organization, non-governmental organization, a project management unit or a large-scale company;
- Required skills:
- Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills to obtain the best purchasing terms;
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders;
- Analysis and problem solving: Ability to analyze complex situations and find practical and effective solutions;
- Knowledge of IT tools: Mastery of purchasing management software;
- Professional Ethics: Integrity and adherence to ethical standards in all purchasing transactions;
- Good command of Microsoft Office suite software: particularly Excel;
- Perfect command of English or French, with a good knowledge of the other language
- Personal qualities:
- Have strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail;
- Sense of organization and personal responsibility;
- Have good public relations skills;
- Have the ability to develop and communicate a collective vision and inspire others to achieve that vision;
- Be proactive and can question yourself;
- Have a sense of initiative and judgment;
- Develop and maintain a work environment based on respect for diversity;

- Have a structured mind and good oral and written expression skills;
- Be able to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
