COUNTRY PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

 




 

International Medical Corps has been present in Cameroon since 2008 to provide assistance to thousands of CAR refugees who have crossed the bordered sheltered in Cameroon as a consequence of the political and social troubles which occurred in CAR since 2005. International Medical Corps is providing essential health and nutrition care to more than 75 000 Nigerian Refugees in the Minawao refugee Camp in the Far North Region according to last data from HCR and its parteners .

Missions and Responsibilities

Main objective

In close collaboration with the Project team, the Livelihood Supervisor contributes under the responsibility of the Project Manager, to ensure the technical supervision of the project activities, in particular: strengthen the capacities of local and community organizations to prevent and respond to GBV, especially child marriage; ensure the mitigation of the risks of child marriage through the socio-economic empowerment of out of school girls at risk and Explore opportunities to establish public-private partnership to mobilize resources to fight against child marriage. In close collaboration with the Supervisors and the other technical staff of the project, the Project Manager contributes under the responsibility of the Field Coordinator, to ensure the design and supervision of the implementation of the UNICEF project in the communes of Garoua-Boulai, Bétaré-Oya, Mandjou, Kette, Ouli and Kentzou (East region), including the capacity building, planning and implementation of activities, budget management, monitoring, reporting and coordination.

Job summary:

 

 

The Project Manager works under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator is responsible of implementation of field activities such as provide technical and operational support to the team in the field to ensure good performance on work, Analyze trends of GBV and Child Protection, gaps in services in the intervention areas and suggest ways to develop/adjust program strategies to meet needs, Contribute to program design and the preparation of concept notes, proposals and reports. He/she provide daily technical support and coaching to the project team and partners or stakeholders. He/she also has a duty to monitor and ensure the proper functioning of community-based complaint escalation mechanisms established in the community.

Responsibilities

  1. Specific tasks:
  • Work closely with the coordination team to understand program goals and to meet expectations, meet program goals and to determine operational needs;
  • Analyze trends of GBV and Child Protection, gaps in services in the intervention areas and suggest ways to develop/adjust program strategies to meet needs;
  • Contribute to the development of concept notes and proposals for any other Programs;
  • Contribute to the development of a monitoring and evaluation system for the project;
  • Development of training materials to build the capacity of MINAS, MINPROFF personnel, staffs, CBO’s and Women association members in the field of Protection (GBV & Child Protection) and Livelihoods;
  • Lead work, spending and procurement plans development for the program and ensure they are matching and apply by all the program staff in the intervention areas;

 

 

  • Provide technical advice and support to the project staff and other team in link with the project activities to ensure programming objectives are successfully achieved;
  • Collaborate with all community programs in the areas of intervention for the strengthening of the community protection mechanism;
  • Identify partners and points of service and support for individuals in need of protection assistance;
  • Actively participate in protection/ (GBV & CP) working groups and contribute to interagency initiatives;
  • Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct;
  • Ensure compliance with donor financial regulations.
  1. Education, Experience and Skills

Education

Master 2 in Social sciences, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study preferred

Experience

 At least five years of field experience, including experience in GBV or/and Child Protection program management and protection;

• Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects;

• Supervisory experience with robust team management skills;

• Experience in managing emergency and/or development projects and in Behavior Change Communication (BCC).

Skills

• Good knowledge of transversal protection

• Good knowledge in the field of participatory development approaches

• Good knowledge of plant and animal production
