In order to ensure the implementation of its project, the International Union for Conservation of Nature is recruiting a Project Manager who can contribute with his team to the proper execution of the ACREGIR project through good collaboration with the various partners.
CONTEXT
International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) It is a union of Members composed of governments and organizations civil society. It offers to public, private organizations and non-governmental knowledge and tools needed to that human progress, economic development and conservation of nature are realized in harmony It counts with experience, resources and the weight of its 1300 Member organizations, the skills of more than 13,000 experts. IUCN with the support of the Ministry of Environment of the Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED), are since engaged in the implementation of the Project “Increasing Resilience of local communities to climate change through Youth entrepreneurship and integrated resource management natural (ACREGIR)”. This project is implemented in partnership with MINEPDED, IFAD and PADFA II. The overall objective of this project is increase the adaptive capacity of local communities, by In particular, youth and women, to climate change through Promoting resilient livelihoods and through integrated management natural resources on the outskirts of Wazade National Parks Benue and Kimbi-fungom.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Project Manager will be placed under the direct supervision of the Cameroon Programme Officer based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He/she will be responsible on the one hand for the technical, financial and administrative implementation of the project and on the other hand for valuing the achievements of the project and ensuring their coherence with related initiatives.
1. Project Planning and Implementation
- Supervise and coordinate the development and implementation of all project activities in the project area of intervention region according to the annual work plans in connection with the agreement signed between IUCN and MINEPDED;
- Work closely with the relevant departments of the sectoral ministries involved in the project;
- Work closely with other administrations and those responsible for other projects under development in the area of intervention;
- Maintain good relations with administrative authorities and actors who can influence the results of the project in order to ensure the success of its implementation;
- Ensure regular contact with other conservation partners in the region and, if possible, ensure the development of joint activities.
- Ensure the regular exchange of information with the Cameroon Program Officer
- Develop an appropriate mechanism for the involvement of all stakeholders in project activities;
- Prepare the ToR and coordinate the work of the consultants
- Carry out any other useful task to be entrusted to him by the Programme Officer of IUCN Cameroon Programme for the smooth running of activities and the achievement of the objectives of IUCN Cameroon Programme;
- Ensure local representation of IUCN and the development of strategic partnerships;
- Any other task entrusted to him by the IUCN Cameroon Programme Officer.

2. Project Management
- Coordinate activities, schedules, resources, equipment and information associated with the project;
- Plan quarterly and annual activities and related budget in collaboration with other partners and ensure its implementation;
- Ensure the technical and financial preparation of project reports within the deadline;
- Coordinate the internal monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the project and the project support staff;
- Ensure the technical and financial implementation of the project, under the supervision of the Cameroon Program Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Hold a graduate degree (Bac + 5 at least) in the fields of environmental sciences, agricultural sciences or related field;
- Have at least ten (10) years of proven professional experience in climate change adaptation, natural resource management, conservation or protected areas, in the management of development projects, environmental protection, sustainable land management, etc.;
- Proven experience in technical, administrative and financial management;
- Have implemented or held a key position in the implementation of at least two (02) development projects;
- Have a good knowledge of the project implementation area;
- Have a good knowledge of donor procedures;
- Have practical experience in gender and GBV mainstreaming and donor policies on these issues as well as sexual abuse;
- Have an excellent level of spoken and written language in French and a good practice of English;
ASSETS
- Mastery of geomatics/cartography/GIS tools
- Have a usual practice of office and electronic communication computer tools and software
- Have additional training in project management, monitoring and evaluation, social and environmental safeguards;
- Strong capacity for organization, synthesis and report writing
- Know how to express oneself in a local language of the area including Fulfulde.
