Action Contre la Faim is an international , non-political, non-confessional and non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) . For our operations in Cameroon, we are locally looking for: (02) Psychosocial Workers (M/F).

Location: The candidate must have Mora and Koza as their place of residence

 

 

 




 

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION : Organize and lead activities related to the mental health program and care practices – gender and protection, of the region within the project

 

 

IN PARTICULAR, YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mission 1: Implement psychoeducation sessions

  • Create psychoeducation groups of a maximum of 15 people;
  • Animate psychoeducation sessions from an animation guide and an image box;
  • Participate in the development of educational materials and adapt them according to the target audience;
  • Conduct activities for men and women, girls and boys according to the needs of the beneficiaries;
  • Promote the exchange and participation of beneficiaries;
  • Clinically identify and assess using standardized scales, following these sessions, people who need follow-up;
  • Offer to people who need follow-up the group psycho-social care activity;
  • Evaluate the content of each workshop, analyze it and report it using the evaluation grids.

 

 

 

 

Mission 2: Participate in the collection of information concerning the needs of beneficiaries in terms of mental health

  • Know how to recognize groups of individuals who are more vulnerable and in need of psychological support;
  • Observe and collect information regarding the needs of beneficiaries in terms of mental health during program activities;
  • Report this information systematically in each activity report.

Mission 3: Conduct psycho-social support groups with beneficiaries:

  • Complete the beneficiary form using the clinical interview technique;
  • To pass the standardized scales at the beginning and at the end of care;
  • Animate and stimulate exchanges between beneficiaries by following the themes and recommendations of the group care protocol;
  • Receive and contain the expression of important emotions;
  • Maintain the framework of the sessions while showing flexibility and kindness;
  • Allow the expression of all participants;
  • Create a friendly and caring atmosphere;
  • Know how to guide a person in individual therapy if the person is still in distress with regard to the standardized scales.

 

 

Mission 4: Conduct individual interviews with adults – clinical interviews

  • Complete the beneficiary form using the clinical interview technique;
  • To pass the standardized scales at the beginning and at the end of care;
  • Conduct individual interviews using an interview guide using different tools;
  • Master the psychometric tools used within the framework of the protocol and have the beneficiaries elaborate on these tools;
  • Master emotional stabilization techniques;
  • Receive and contain the expression of important emotions;

Mission 5: Conduct training in mental health and care practices, gender and protection

  • Take the knowledge test at the beginning and end of training
  • Master the training modules on specific themes (psychological first aid, psychosocial approach to malnutrition, caregiver-patient relationships, etc.);
  • Be able to speak in public, to be a pedagogue and to adapt the content of the training to the public.

Mission 6: Respect strict confidentiality

  • Ensure strict respect for the confidentiality of data, property of the beneficiaries of the project and of Action Contre la Faim;
  • Respect confidentiality on the content of clinical interviews, apart from discussions with the psychologists in charge;
  • Evaluate the impact on our beneficiaries before and after care.

Mission 7: Work in coherence and collaboration with the other teams of Clinique Mobile

  • Demonstrate adaptability;
  • Communicate with people from other Clinique Mobile teams
  • Coordinate its actions with the actions of other Mobile Clinic teams (reproductive health and healthcare personnel
  • Be creative;
  • Have a precise knowledge of the activities of other Clinique Mobile teams
  • In order to be able to direct, when relevant, some of our beneficiaries towards them.

SPECIFICATIONS

This job profile may be subject to permanent modifications according to the evolution of activities. These modifications will be defined and discussed between the employee and Action contre la Faim.

Failure to comply with the terms of this job description will be sanctioned by the disciplinary measures stipulated in the Internal Regulations.

We remind you that to achieve the objectives of this mission, LAND NIGHTS WILL BE MANDATORY (depending on the position!)

 

 

DIPLOMAS/LEVEL OF STUDY/EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in social sciences, psychosocial work or similar
  • Knowledge of stress and psychotrauma management
  • Knowledge of psychological first aid and therapeutic group facilitation techniques
  • Experience working with vulnerable audiences

REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • Sense of confidentiality
  • Good knowledge of psychological care and individual and group psychosocial support, adults and children
  • Good knowledge in the management of psychotrauma
  • Good knowledge of child development
  • Good communication and adaptability skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Team spirit
  • Ability to conduct interviews and lead groups – Ethics and professionalism
  • Knowledge of NGOs and humanitarian principles
  • Good knowledge of the area and customs
  • Knowledge of the local languages ​​of the work area (Massa; toupouri moundang, Mandara, Fulfuldé, Kanouri, Arabic choua, etc.) and French. – .
  • Commit to respecting and applying ACF’s gender policy

  • Be physically fit to travel in the field (80%)
