OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The mission of the WHO Health Emergencies Program is to build the capacities of Member States to manage the risks of health emergencies and, when national capacities are overwhelmed, to lead and coordinate the international health response to contain the outbreaks and provide effective relief and recovery to affected populations.
The Health Emergency Response Program Management and Administration Directorate is responsible for the effective management and administrative support of the Emergencies Program, and ensures that WHO emergency responses are promptly and sustainably funded and staffed. This directorate provides predictable and quality administrative services (human resources, finance, work planning, grants) to the Emergency Program, including during emergency responses and ensures effective monitoring of (and in accordance with) normal emergency procedures. operations (PNE), allowing permanent improvement and excellent management of activities.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
1. Drive any vehicle officially assigned to the representation of WHO in general and ensure that it is in good working order; 2.Ensure the cleanliness and regular maintenance of the vehicle; 3.Drive the staff or technician within their region of assignment and outside the region where there is a need for service; 4.Notify your supervisor in a timely manner of the condition (critical or not) of the vehicle and accessories, that is to say, check the condition of office vehicles daily, monitor the work carried out in the garages, ensure the cleanliness and good working order of vehicles; 5. Carry out the various errands necessary for service needs (banking, deposit or collection of mail, collection of travel tickets or other documents, etc.); 6.Welcome or accompany WHO staff, including temporary consultants and/or advisors on official mission to the country; 7.Notify the administration of any travel outside normal working hours and public holidays; 8.Inform the communications unit of all field trips and ensure that onboard communications equipment is functional; 9.Ensure that the steps required by United Nations road safety regulations have been followed in the event of an accident; 10.Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential : At least lower secondary education and a valid driving license
Desirable : A mechanics diploma would be an asset.
Experience
Essential : At least two years of experience as a driver with a positive track record.
Desirable : Experience with the United Nations system would be an Asset
Skills
1. Mastery of the country’s driving rules and ability to carry out minor repairs on the vehicle;
2.Ability to read, write and understand the working language;
3.Ability to write concise and accurate accident reports.
