Action Against Hunger is an International,
non-political, non-confessional and non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

For our operations in Cameroon, we are looking for:
A CHOLERA SUPERVISOR
I. PURPOSE OF THE POST
To provide technical and continuous support in the CTC (cholera treatment centers) and UTC (
cholera treatment units) support for this project and also to the community awareness animators
deployed in the field to ensure the proper implementation of the management activity of
suspected and confirmed cholera cases at the UTC and CTC levels, referral of suspected cases via
community animators and CHWs and implementation implementation and maintenance of WASH structures in CTUs
, CTCs and community. Highlighting difficulties on the ground (refusal to visit, reluctance, etc.) and
links with community leaders to overcome these difficulties

 

 

II. JOB MISSIONS:
Mission 1: Provide technical support to the CTCs and CTUs supported
Tasks: Ensure the correct distribution and use of disinfection materials and personal
protective equipment Ensure the installation, dissemination of messages for use and the maintenance of latrines Ensure the distribution and correct use of medicinal inputs (filling of ACF pharma tools ) Ensure the distribution of WASH kits for cases released from CTC or CTU Ensure a daily presence in the field to support awareness-raising facilitators

community in the activity of active search for cases and referral
Prepare weekly visit plans for community awareness facilitators and the
awareness caravan
Collaborate with the heads of the intervention district in the deployment of FOSA supervisors
to ensure their acceptance on the field (by FOSAs, community leaders and local authorities ) and also in the identification of voluntary active awareness
associations in the districts , general information on cholera field tools to be completed, measures of

 

infection protection and control, referrals and follow-up)
Mission 2: Train health workers, in particular hygienists in the CTUs and CTCs supported and
community health workers
Tasks:
Identify those who can be trained and participate in active case finding
Identify community leaders, neighborhood chiefs, women’s associations, youth associations, students
and any other association structure of the DS supported that can be trained in cholera, home treatment with ORS, prevention and disinfestation of households and participate in active case
finding Train all medical staff, in particular hygienists, on cholera prevention and control, management

cases, water chlorination and chlorine level monitoring.
Print and distribute cholera prevention posters and brochures developed by the MINSANTE, ensure that each CTC and UTC and
community gathering place has displayed these prevention messages and has brochures to distribute
Train the CTCs and UTCs on the circuits to reduce the possibility of contamination
Report to MINSANTE/COUSP all CTCs and or CTUs that do not have the capacity to isolate a suspect and
or confirmed
Mission 3: Collect, consolidate and transmit field data
Tasks:
Ensure the accuracy of reports written by community outreach facilitators
Check all the alerts received each day via the various channels formed in the districts (FOSA,
community leaders, associations, etc.) and contact them if fundamental information is missing
Update the database with new alerts
Transmit as quickly as possible possible all alerts to the RP EIIR and also to N+1 and N+2 in order to
continue the active search for cases with the competent teams
Mission 4: Manage the HR and logistics aspects of the project at the level of the CTCs or UTCs supported
Tasks:
Ensure logistical support, including transportation and compensation Community relays identified
Review any safety or security issues encountered reported by the relays
supervisors
Make a weekly point with the community sensitization animators to identify the
difficulties and find solutions

Mission 5: Participate in the good coordination between other COUSP units
Tasks:
Ensure the proper functioning of the supply chain alert with the EIIR teams for any contact and/or
suspected case identified by supervisor or community relays
Ensure that the EIIR teams have received the case sheets/suspicious contacts and that
the EIIR teams have arrived at the homes of the cases /suspicious contacts
Organize joint raids and supervisions with the district management team
Participate in meetings of the health district management team
Mission 6: Participate in the preparation of reports / information management
Tasks:
Participate in the compilation, analysis of data and monitoring of indicators with the deputy and RDD Health and
Nutrition
Participates in the preparation of monthly activity reports and weekly reports by ensuring its
quality, promptness and completeness
Ensures the smooth running of the collection, analysis and transmission of data from
supervisors of proximity
Reports the problems encountered and solved, the remarks for the improvement of the implementation
of the project

IV. PROFILE
Diploma / Level of studies / Professional Experience
* Bachelor’s degree
* State registered nurse or Diploma in Public Health is an asset
* With at least 1 year of humanitarian professional experience in a
primary health care program in a context of emergency or development
* Experience in a context of diseases with epidemic potential is an asset
* Experience with ACF and in the same position would be an advantage
Skills required
* Minimum 1 year of professional experience in the field of primary health care and
diseases of epidemic potential
* Experience in WASH
* Experience in field team management
* Experience in training and supervision of health activities in the field (implementation of
support tools and verification of data collected in the field)
* Knowledge of the organization and operation of the healthcare system Cameroonians and the
COUSP
* Good writing skills
* Ability to formulate proposals and take initiatives
* Linguistics (French, English essential)
* Mastery of computer tools desired (in particular Excel, and Word)
Required qualities:
* Good interpersonal skills – Patience – Dynamism – Team spirit – Analytical spirit –
Spirit of initiation – Sense of observation – Creativity – Organizational skills – Rigor in
work – Autonomy – Diplomacy
* – Physically fit to travel in the field (90% travel time
in the field)
