Presentation of the company
The French Red Cross (CRf) and the Cameroon Red Cross (CRC) are humanitarian associations
, auxiliary to public authorities, which provide aid and assistance to
vulnerable people.
Since 2010, the French Red Cross (CRf) has been present in Cameroon and intervenes in the areas
of health, nutrition and food security and livelihoods (SAME) in the
Eastern and Southern’Far North.
Recruitment context
Position opening.
Part of the KOUSSERI and MAROUA base team, more specifically the GRC project team.
Position presentation
Under the responsibility and supervision of the Deputy Project Manager in disaster risk management,
the Field Officer of the disaster risk management project is responsible for monitoring the implementation
and control of community activities in the department of Logone and Chari and ensure the
maintenance of its dynamism.
Responsibilities and fields of action
Objective 1: Ensure the implementation of the
community awareness and mobilization strategy in the areas of intervention
Participate in the identification of needs for the implementation of activities linked to the team
of the project ;
Participate in the planning of project activities and sub-activities;
Participate in collaboration with community members and state technical services
and CRC volunteers in the creation of Community Intervention Teams
(EIC), the realization of EVCs in the project area;
Raise awareness among beneficiaries and community authorities (chiefs, imam, etc.) about
flood risks and first aid;
Ensure, in collaboration with CRC volunteers, the monitoring of small mitigation works
carried out by the EICs in the areas concerned;
Ensure, in collaboration with the CRC departments, their effective involvement in activities
;
Contribute to the implementation of community disaster risk reduction strategies
;
Objective 2: Ensure monitoring of community activities implemented in the
intervention areas
Ensure timely reporting of activities carried out to its hierarchy;
Participate in the adaptation and implementation of awareness tools on
flood risks and prevention measures according to the analysis of the situation;
Support the translation of existing tools into local languages;
Support the implementation of KAP surveys planned in the project and the carrying out of
Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments (VCA);
Ensure the dissemination of lessons learned within the framework of the project;
Objective 3: Maintain good collaborative contact with project stakeholders at the
community level
Contribute to maintaining the technical image of the CRf in the area;
Contribute to the quality of relationships with partners and especially state technical services
, administrative and traditional authorities as well as CRC volunteers;
Contribute to guaranteeing respect for the principles and values of the CRf in terms of partnership;
Profile
Location of the position: this position is open to people with the required profile and residing in Kousséri
and Maroua; it is therefore not subject to relocation. The candidate selected at the end of the
recruitment process will therefore not be able to claim the status of delocalized employee.

Diploma/Level of studies:
Holder of at least a bac+2 in Social Sciences, Natural Risk Management or any other
equivalent diploma
Mandatory knowledge and skills:
Knowledge of Disaster Risk management programs (GRC) and DRR tools; Page 3 / 3
Perfect command of the French language and local languages (Fulfulde and Arabic choua);
Experience in civil protection and disaster management;
Good facilitation and leadership skills;
Physically able to travel in the field (90% travel time
in the field) and therefore hold a category A driving license (motorcycle);
Ability to formulate proposals and take initiatives;
Respect for community traditions and customs.
Knowledge and skills appreciated:
Knowledge of Fulfulde and Choua Arabic is an asset;
Experience within the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement;
Professional experience in an international or national NGO;
Having worked in the humanitarian sector would be an asset;
Very good teamwork facilities;
