Recruitment of   2  Senior Economic Policy Analysts at the  Nkafu  Policy Institute

The  Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation is recruiting   two   senior policy analysts   for the    Economic Affairs  Division of the Nkafu Policy Institute. These full-time positions will be based in Yaoundé-Cameroon.

The  Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation’s Nkafu Policy Institute   is a think tank whose mission is to catalyze our economic transformation by focusing on social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health and the implementing progressive policies that together create economic opportunity for all. .

 




 

Roles and responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of the Economic Affairs Division, the

Senior Economic Policy Analysts will have the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Monitors economic developments in the area of ​​economic, social and environmental development and identifies recurring and emerging issues of concern to the Nkafu Policy Institute;
  • Study policies, evaluate their effectiveness and propose policies based on evidence.
  • Work with other policy analysts to help refine analysis, improve accessibility and increase the impact of Institute products.
  • Designs and conducts studies on selected economic and sustainable development issues and drafts the resulting reports.
  • Interprets and applies the results of econometric modeling and masters relevant statistical packages for the analysis of economic prospects and economic diversification policies;
  • Present research results to public policy makers, service providers and the news media with the aim of providing policy advice to authorities and educating the public;
  • Stay abreast of regional and national research and policy issues relevant to the Foundation’s mission and vision.
  • Support efforts to respond to requests for information and technical assistance from other policy makers and the media.
  • Develops and publishes articles, editorials, policy briefs, reports and draft policy recommendations relevant to the area of ​​work.
  • Be involved in the execution of grants activities if and when requested.

Core Skills  Required 

  • PhD in Economics with at least 2 years  of economic research and analysis, policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programs or related field.
  • Experience in economic policy analysis with a focus on:  trade  and  regional economic integration  , monetary  and fiscal policies, gender equality  and  women ‘s  economic empowerment,  socio-economic issues, sustainable development, entrepreneurship social, sustainable  and inclusive  development , international economy,  macroeconomics, finance, commodity markets, applied microeconomics, development economics  or  econometrics.
  • Experience in publishing articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to policy publications and develop policy implications from economic analysis and modelling.

 

 



 

  • Have a good knowledge of work experience in emerging markets or developing countries.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, primarily written to be able to produce quick, concise and insightful reports and analyzes of economic developments.
  • Vital networking and relationship management skills. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and expand existing contacts and maintain an extensive network.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Desirable skills 

  • General economic knowledge and analytical skills – Has demonstrated experience working with economic and sector data and analytical tools and models to perform economic analysis;
  • Experience in programme/project management and event organization would be an asset.
  • Flexible approach, strong initiative and adaptability.

 




 

Language requirements

  • Excellent command (oral and written) of English and French
