JOB DESCRIPTION

The Shelter-WaSH Technical Assistant assists in the planning and implementation of Shelter-WaSH activities in the field and works closely with local communities/authorities during WaSH construction (drinking water supply, boreholes , latrines, etc.) and shelter (classrooms, shelters, etc.) at the level of communities, schools and health facilities. He/She will also have to ensure the quality of construction materials, works and services and ensure the safety of workers by using safety tools on the construction site.

RESPONSIBILITIES
General Responsibilities

Works in accordance with NRC policies, tools, manuals and guidelines.
Writes reports on the progress of support activities at the request of the supervisor or management.
Ensures proper archiving of documents.
Specific responsibilities

Supervise the construction of infrastructure (shelters, latrines, classroom, playground, reservoir, etc.) in all departments;
Learn about the standards in force and technical questions from supervisors and ensure that these standards are applied at the level of the implementation of projects in the field.
Assist in the assessment of needs and in the implementation of WASH and Shelter projects;
Report regularly to his supervisor on the progress of activities by submitting concise written reports;
Assist in the identification and registration of people to be served

Assist in sensitizing and building the capacity of the communities served on the technical aspects of WASH Shelter projects;
Work closely with the team of workers and technical partners in the field;
Participate in surveys, assessments and community mobilization around construction activities in the field;
Contribute to the identification of local workers, masons and carpenters;
Assist field logistics during distribution, supply of materials, tools, etc.
Maintaining open and professional relationships with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing supervision and guidance to enable teams to successfully complete their tasks and within budget This

QUALIFICATIONS
Professional skills
General professional skills:

Proven experience in the use of some basic design tools AutoCAD/ArchiCAD, Epanet, Google earth, Qgis, etc.
Professional experience as a Shelter-WaSH Project Technical Assistant in a humanitarian and raising.
Demonstrated results on the responsibilities of the position.
Skills, knowledge and experience specific to the context:

Hold a university degree (Bac + 3) in civil engineering, hydraulics, Architecture or equivalent.
Knowledge of construction of shelters, boreholes and water supply systems.
Work experience in the area of ​​intervention.
Previous work experience in complex and unstable contexts.
In-depth knowledge of social, cultural, economic and legal contexts.
Speak at least one of the local languages ​​of the area of ​​intervention (Arabic choa, Kotoko, pidgin, fufuldé, etc.)
Speak and write French easily
Oral and written expression of the English language is an asset.
