In close collaboration with the supervisors and other technical staff of the project, Hygiene Promoter Field Assistant contributes under the responsibility of the WASH Officer, the Assistant Project Manager (ACP) and the Project Manager (CP), to ensure the technical supervision of project activities, in particular: Targeting of beneficiaries, Needs analysis/assessment, Distribution of WASH inputs, supervision of the construction of boreholes, management of works, community mobilization, Awareness raising and technical training of beneficiaries, monitoring of.
Under the direct supervision of the WASH Officer and in close collaboration with the supervisors and other technical staff of the project, the field assistant hygiene promoter, ensures the management and implementation of Water, Hygiene & Sanitation projects in benefit of the populations in the areas of intervention of the project. He ensures the proper execution of the entire village hydraulic program of INTERSOS Cameroon according to an action plan established by the latter and in consultation with his collaborators while respecting the strategy established by the organization and the local, state partners. and humanitarians involved in the field. He organizes the work of the

Responsibilities General functions ➢ Ensures the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the water, hygiene and sanitation sector; ➢ Provides supervision, performance reviews and technical training to sector and community staff; ➢ Ensures the representation of INTERSOS in the field with partners involved in the WASH field as well as that of Health  ➢ Responsible for the quality control of water, hygiene and sanitation service in the affected area. Specific tasks:  R1: Ensure the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the water, hygiene and sanitation sector
 

– Plans, organizes and supervises the field work for all activities related to water, hygiene and sanitation according to the strategy and priorities established by the project;
– Is responsible for the implementation of activities and the achievement of results in the field of water, hygiene and sanitation;




– Ensures the physicochemical and bacteriological analysis of the water;
– Is responsible for the collection and analysis of data in the field and draws up reports, technical sheets and the geological section of each borehole drilled;
– Defines the results indicators and sets up data collection tools;
– Participates in geophysical studies of areas selected for the construction of boreholes;
– Supervises the construction and maintenance of hydraulic and sanitary structures;
– Animates training sessions for beneficiaries using participatory methods;
– Reorganizes and revitalizes water point management committees,
– Organizes training for water point management committees on their roles and responsibilities, etc. ;
– Implements water fund recovery strategies;
– Ensures the monitoring of the quality of the water distributed and the flow rates reached at the level of the distribution points as well as the repair of the installations in collaboration with the community structures (craftsmen repairers, management committees);
– Represents INTERSOS in technical meetings on Wash and Health aspects;
– Writes regular reports on the progress of activities to be sent to the coordinator and/or project manager.
– R2: Ensures the supervision, performance evaluations and technical training of sector staff
– Ensures that sector staff implement and report activities in accordance with established action plans;
– Values ​​and motivates the rural supervisors on their responsibilities and their contributions to the realization of the activities of the sector;
– Develops the capacities of water point management committees, repairers and partners on specific themes in the sector, including the system of self-management of works;
– Ensures the continuous training of the population on the technical level, the standardization of participatory approaches and the monitoring and evaluation of activities in the sector.
– R3: Ensures the coordination of the sector with the partners involved in the field as well as that of Health



– Actively participates in the weekly and/or monthly Wash and Health sector meetings with the partners and presents the action plans of INTERSOS, l status of their implementation and the results achieved as well as lessons learned and best practices;
– Ensures the implementation of program activities with community leaders, water point management committees, repair artisans and the various partner organizations involved in the field
– Develops beneficiary monitoring sheets
– Participates in the elaboration of the terms of reference for the various monitorings
– Assumes all other objective tasks entrusted by his supervisor.
Job requirements
Education – University level, minimum Bac +3 in civil engineering, hydraulics, geography, environment, water, hygiene and sanitation
Experience – Experience of minimum 1 year in a similar position in the field of WASH in the humanitarian context

Language –
– Fluency in French (written and spoken) and knowledge of English is an asset.
Proficiency in the local language (written and spoken): Choa Arabic, Fulfulde, Mandara, Mousgoum, Massa, Kotoko, Kanuri, etc.

– Excellent understanding of food security and livelihoods programming, including experience in conducting beneficiary identification, registration and selection
Have strong skills in the organization of staff working under supervision
Have excellent computer skills: Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and MS Outlook; Sphinx
Knowledge of agronomy is desirable
Mastery of motocross driving
Excellent skills in hydrology, boreholes, hygiene and sanitation, participatory methods, ability to manage activities and teams, distribution/treatment of drinking water
