DOCTORS SANS FRONTIERES – MSF is a non-governmental humanitarian organization, created in France in 1971, under the status of a non-profit association. The Swiss section was created in 1981. Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1999, MSF aims to provide humanitarian medical aid to any affected population without distinction of ethnicity, gender, religion, philosophy or political opinion.




 

Médecins Sans Frontières Switzerland is looking for four (04) Drivers for its emergency project in Kousseri.
Place of work: Kousseri
Type of contract: Fixed-term contract of 1.5 months
Date of entry into office: As soon as possible Direct manager: Log Base
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
Perform the task of transporting goods and authorized people in a vehicle of MSF, ensuring compliance with technical and safety conditions, the country’s highway code and MSF security regulations, in order to provide a safe, trouble-free and efficient service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Every day, check the technical condition of the assigned vehicle (condition of tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), carry out weekly checks following the MSF logbook, make the necessary fillings and keep the vehicle clean to ensure that it can be driven in perfect conditions. Carry out a handover with the next driver when applicable.
Ensure the safety of passengers in the vehicle, drive carefully, observe speed limits and driving rules of the country and MSF safety rules, in order to avoid car accidents.
Ensure that all passengers have the necessary documents before setting out and ensure that non-MSF personnel sign the appropriate liability waivers before using the vehicle.
Ensure the correct loading and unloading of the vehicle and in particular, deliver the documents to the recipient of the goods, check the status of the delivered goods, return the duly completed documents to the logistics services, ensure that the goods are accompanied by necessary documents.

 

 

Ensure all vehicle documents and driver’s license are valid and in the vehicle.
Ensure that the vehicle is still in good condition following the instructions and guidelines in the logbook and make a return/trade-in if someone else uses the vehicle.
Inform the line manager of any incident relating to the transport of passengers or goods.
Know how to use all types of radio, know codes, call numbers and the radio alphabet by heart and communicate with the base following MSF communication policies in order to inform of the driver’s location and possible implications.
Know and respect the safety rules relating to the movement of vehicles, particularly those concerning customs, checkpoints and road blockages.

Training: Essential: know how to read and write and hold a driving license Good knowledge of the country’s roads
Essential experience: at least 2 years of driving experience; preferably experience with the vehicles to be used (4X4, motorcycles, etc.) at MSF or with other NGOs Language: Basic language of the mission and local language essential Knowledge: good knowledge of the roads in the mission region
; have knowledge of basic mechanics.

Required qualities: Patience, flexibility, resourcefulness, ability to work under pressure with people from a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment, good physical condition, autonomy, punctuality.
