Presentation of the association
The French Red Cross (CRf) and the Cameroon Red Cross (CRC) are humanitarian associations
, auxiliaries of public authorities, which provide aid and assistance to
vulnerable people.
Since 2010, the French Red Cross (CRf) has been present in Cameroon and intervenes in
areas of health, nutrition and food security and livelihoods (SAME)
in the Eastern and Far North regions.
Recruitment context
Creation of a pool of temporary drivers to ensure replacement of
drivers during periods of absence.
Presentation of the position
I. Objective / Summary of the position.
Under the direct responsibility of the Logistics Assistant, the driver is responsible for:
Transporting people and/or materials in good safety conditions
;
Be responsible for the assigned vehicle, and ensure its control, maintenance, cleanliness and
small repairs.
II. Position location
This position is open to people with the required profile and residing in Yaoundé;
III. Responsibilities
A. Transportation – Ensures the driving of a CRF vehicle for the transportation of the organization
‘s goods and people ; – Ensures the travel of CRF personnel according to the travel schedule defined by the logistics service, in the best possible transport conditions for people and/or equipment; – Drive carefully in accordance with the state of the road while respecting established speed limits , the highway code and the internal safety rules of the French Red Cross; – Ensures that people on board are authorized to use CRF vehicles
(mission order) ; otherwise, refuse support. In the case where
people who do not belong to the CRF team are authorized to travel in the
NGO vehicle, the driver is responsible for having them sign a liability waiver;
– Before each departure: Make sure you are visible, fasten your seat belt and ensure that
each passenger has properly fastened theirs and that all doors are
locked;
– Ensure before departure that the vehicle is roadworthy (tires, oils, radiator,
air conditioning, etc.) and has sufficient fuel to complete the
scheduled journey;
– Ensure that the vehicle has an on-board kit (tools), a medicine box and
regularly take an inventory to check expiry dates;
B. Loading and Unloading
– Is responsible for the safety of passengers and property;
– Stays close to his vehicle and is ready to leave at any time (starting position);
– Ensures the safety of the vehicle which must always be under its supervision;
– Adapts its speed according to its load;
– Ensures that all transport documents (WAYBILl, packing-List) are available and
correctly completed;
– Takes care of formalities at the checkpoint, does not solicit passengers (presentation of
identity papers, passports, etc.) only when expressly requested by the authorities;
C. Compliance with procedures
– Completes all documents relating to vehicle maintenance (logbook,
fuel log book, maintenance log book, etc.); – Immediately inform your line manager in the event of an accident or mechanical
problem ; – In the event of an advance received from the Accounting Assistant or other financier, pays all invoices and others which are paid in the field; Page 3 / 4 – Ensures the conformity of invoices: date, supplier stamp, to default: their name, telephone number and identity card number, name of CRF, total amount in figures and letters, signature of the supplier;
– Refuses any non-compliant invoice; – Returns the balance of the advance as well as all supporting documents
to the Accounting Assistant within the time limit ; – When transporting goods, he ensures that he respects the indicated procedures (signing of waybill and other documents) in accordance with the instructions of his hierarchical manager; Qualification and experience Diploma/Level of study: – Holder of at least a BEPC; – Hold a category “B” driving license, a category “D” license is an asset; – Experience of at least 2 years as a driver, Experience in humanitarian work recommended; Required knowledge:
– Experience of at least 2 years as a driver (field experience with 4×4) with
good performance without accidents;
– Experience with an NGO and/or an international agency would be an asset;
– Knowledge of the city of Yaoundé would be an asset;
Required know-how:
– Mastery of the French language and local languages;
– Physically able to travel in the field;
– Respect for community traditions and customs;
Qualifications required:
– Knowledge of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement;
– Good communication and feedback of information;
– Sense of confidentiality/discretion;
– Patience, flexibility and adaptability
– Rigor, dynamism and diplomacy;
– Ability to work with multidisciplinary and multicultural people.
– Ability to work in difficult contexts (security, environment, workload
);
