Job Title: Social Worker
Reports to: Psychologist
Duty station: Ako/ Kambe/ Fomtem/ Alu / Mamfé/ Bachuo -akagbe
Type of contract Fixed Term
Availability: November 2024
Main objective and tasks
The social worker provides psychosocial support for survivors of protection cases
(including GBV and child protection).
Tasks:
• Conduct intake interviews with individuals identified by the team during outreach
work or referred by other agencies, and open a case if vulnerability criteria are
met
• Carry out comprehensive assessments for each client after receiving their consent
and consider emotional, behavioral and social factors that affects them psychosocial well-being as well as protection and risk factors
• Refer clients to appropriate services and when necessary accompany them to
different service providers
• Ensure proper and safe filing and archiving of case management files to maintain
data confidentiality
• Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited
to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-
know principles
• Mapping service providers in the intervention area;
• Ensure good coordination with the other protection actors working in the
intervention area;
• Liaise with the health centers to ensure proper medical care for survivors,
including availability and management of Post-rape kits;
• Proactively identify the challenges related to psychosocial support, proposing
solutions to realize the objectives and activities of the project;
• Conduct awareness-raising activities on available services, participate in
community mobilization and the development of key messages to be
disseminated;
• Keep the tools up to date and produce high quality and accurate activity reports;
• To Organize Focus Groups whit the beneficiaries to identify the related problems to protection and vulnerable people with specific needs
• Follow the guidelines [respect, confidentiality, non-discrimination, security], and
treat survivors with respect and compassion by keeping confidentiality;
• Actively participate in scheduled weekly meetings by the field coordinator and
the project management;
• Work closely and effectively with the Protection Monitors in the field;
• Be flexible and ready to accept any other tasks asked by INTERSOS related to
the achievement of project’s objectives.

Educational and
professional
experience
required
• University degree in a related field eg Social Work, Psychology or equivalent is
an asset
• Training in humanitarian protection themes such as community-based
protection, survival centered-case management, PSEA, GBV and Child
protection will be an asset.
Technical and behavioral skills required
Work Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a humanitarian context, in an association,
NGO or INGO, with at least 1 year of field work experience in the NW or SW
regions during the context of crisis
• Proven work experience in social work in a similar context
• Experience working and/or collaborating on a UNCHR project would be an asset
• Leadership, people management and development, teamwork and cooperation
• Respect and non-discriminatory attitude, empathy Team management experience
of at least 1 year at similar level would be an asset.
IT: Advanced Knowledge of
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, outlook),
• Mainstream web browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox)
• Web-based mainstream chat and conferencing tools/platforms (Skype, Teams,
Zoom and WebEx )
• Web 2.0 tools (cloud storage, webmail and others)
Languages • Fluency in both written and oral formal English
• Strong writing and reporting skills
• Fluency in Pidgin English
