NOTICE OF CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF
EIGHT (08) PSYCHOSOCIAL ACCOMPANIERS (APS) IN THE
FAR NORTH REGION




 

1. CONTEXT
Improving the care of people living with HIV is one of the important areas of intervention of the national strategic plan to combat HIV/AIDS (2021-2023). Its implementation undoubtedly requires better psycho-social support for the patient and better community dispensation of ARVs as well as better collaboration between providers. This is how the Ministry of Public Health, through the GTRs, recruits Psychosocial Supporters.
In accordance with circular letter N00832/2020 of March 17, 2020 relating to the management of APS, the GTR of the Far North is recruiting eight (08) adult and pediatric Psycho-Social Accompaniers (APS).
These APS will be positioned in treatment sites in the region, they will contribute to increasing the coverage of Antiretroviral treatment (ART) through the implementation of prevention, screening and psychosocial support activities with a view to helping patients, helping with compliance and retention of patients on ARV treatment (adults, HIV-positive pregnant women and exposed children) and the implementation of universal health coverage.

 

 

 

II- GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION
As part of this recruitment, 08 positions are available according to the distribution below.
A- Position: Pediatric Psycho-social Companion
The Pediatric APS will be assigned to the districts of GAZAWA, and KOUSSERI according to the table below:

B- Position: Adult psycho-social companion Adult
APS will be assigned to the districts of MAGA, MAROUA l, MAROUA 2 and MOZOGO according to the table below.

DURATION OF THE CONTRACT:
A fixed-term contract will be signed with the selected APS in the event of satisfactory performance of the interested party and the availability of financing.

 

 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:
Placed under the authority of the head of the health facility and under the supervision of the GTR-SIDA-EN, the APS (pediatric and adult) will be stationed at the various entrance doors to the health facility and in the care service. of HIV/UPEC/CTA will target: (i) Adults (men or women over 15 years old living with HIV presenting in HIV PEC services or even hospitalized in health facility services; (ii) ) Adults (men or women) presenting for consultation or visiting the health facility; (iii) Adults on ARVs (new and old); (iv) sexual partners of PLHIV. He/she provides guidance/support for
patients screened for HIV+ towards the PEC service, as well as the monitoring of PLHIV under antiretroviral treatment; (v) children under 15 years of age presenting to pediatric HIV PEC services or even hospitalized in the health facility services; (vi) Pregnant women presenting for prenatal consultation or visiting the health facility; (vii) Pregnant women living with HIV attending prenatal consultations or maternity services; (viii) spouses of HIV-positive pregnant women. He/She ensures the orientation/support of patients tested for HIV+ towards the PEC service, as well as the monitoring of PLHIV on antiretroviral treatments. The Pediatric APS will have the following essential missions:
Mission 1: Support the promotion of HIV prevention/screening and treatment services for patients visiting the health facility;
Mission 2: Orientation/support of patients screened for HIV + in all health facility services (outpatient consultation, hospitalization, blood bank, laboratory, etc.) towards services for the systematic placement of all HIV patients on ARV treatment + identified in the health facility or in a Mobile Unit or referred from another health structure.
Mission 3: Monitoring a cohort of PLHIV on ARV, which will be assigned to them with the aim of keeping them on ART for as long as possible;
Mission 4: Active monitoring and periodic reporting of activities and indicators
POSITION PROFILE
Interested candidates must meet the following conditions:
Hold at least the Brevet d’Etudes pour le Premier Cycle (BEPC) or the GCE O/L;
Be between 21 and 60 years old;
Have professional experience of at least 01 year in psychosocial care and/or have experience in managing patients in a hospital environment;
Have good communication skills with people;
Have rigor in work, a sense of responsibility, organization in work;
Have a sense of discretion, and be able to maintain professional secrecy;
Have good dispositions for working in a team and under pressure;
Enjoy your physical abilities and your intellectual faculties;
Know how to read and write French and/or English;
Advantage: being a healthcare worker or social worker
N.B. Candidates who are civil servants of the Cameroonian Government are not eligible to apply.
APPLICATION FILE: The application file placed in a closed envelope must include:
A cover letter specifying the care site for which the candidate is applying;
A detailed curriculum vitae (CV) detailing the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience signed and dated;
Certified copies of the candidate’s diplomas signed by the competent authority;
A photocopy of the national identity card;
An extract from the criminal record bulletin n03 dated less than three (03) months
A medical certificate established by a doctor working in a public health facility;
Proof of the candidate’s professional experience;
Any document proving the candidate’s expertise in psychosocial support.
NB: Incomplete files will not be considered.

Each application file written in French or English must arrive no later than November 18, 2023 at 3:30 p.m., in an unidentifiable closed envelope in three (03) copies including one (01) original and two (02 ) copies, to the Secretariat of the REGIONAL COORDINATOR of GTR-SIDA Far North , next to the Cameroonian Red Cross (former Maroua Ile Town Hall), It must be sent in an envelope marked below:
