DESCRIPTION
The Association for the Promotion of Local Development (APDEL) is an independent organization created in 2014 to help people (mainly young people) who are victims of social inequalities. We are currently working in 2 regions of Cameroon (North – West and West) in crisis, reconstruction and development contexts to help save lives and rebuild the future. Our association has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Our vocation is to promote and defend the fundamental rights of vulnerable and marginalized people as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948, helping them as best we can to do without us in the long term. To meet the needs of the people, we develop our expertise from year to year and we adapt to the needs and the contextual evolution of the localities in which we act. We are currently working in 4 complementary areas with a multisectoral and complementary approach: protection, food security and livelihoods, social cohesion and the promotion of peace, and health. In these sectors of intervention, we have a focus on:
* Social cohesion and the promotion of peace : awareness of peace, conflict prevention, youth employment, restoration of social ties, HIMO activities.
* Food Security and Livelihoods (SAME) : Agriculture, Income Generating Activities, Livestock, Village Savings and Credit Association (AVEC).
* Protection : gender-based violence, children’s rights and rule of law.
* Health : mental health and psychosocial support, distribution of hygiene kits.

 



 

For 2 years, we have been using new technologies to support our intervention in the field. Our interventions are implemented in strict compliance with the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, independence, transparency and adaptation, and local inclusion. . As part of our psychosocial and mental health support activities in the West region, we are looking for twenty (20) motivated, dynamic and experienced Community Agents .
NB: this position is open subject to funding

OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB
Under the supervision of the Site Managers and CEC Managers, the Community Agent will be in charge of mobilizing the community for the proper implementation of project activities by ensuring the link between the community and the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Mobilization of communities for the implementation of project activities;
* Identification and selection of volunteers;
* Sensitization of beneficiaries;
* Collection of data ;
* Information and sensitization of actors in the areas of intervention on project activities;
* Mobilization of participants in project activities;
* Participation in the technical monitoring of citizen participation and promotion of social cohesion activities;
* Drafting of monthly activity reports;
* Execution of all tasks assigned to him/her by his/her supervisor;
* Contribution to local advisory support and the transmission of implementation information between the base and the central level.

 




 

REQUIRED PROFILE
* At least BAC;
* Experience in carrying out masonry work;
* Experience in infrastructure rehabilitation;
* Experience of 2 years in carrying out HIMO works;
* Experience in community mobilization.
