Missions and Responsibilities
General Objective The Protection Officer is responsible for the technical supervision and coordination of all protection-related activities under the supervision of the project manager. He or she will ensure that training and capacity building needs of protection staff in the field are addressed in a timely manner and that protection services and activities meet quality industry standards. Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and support to protection staff, ensuring the quality of the implementation of activities and services, as well as compliance with protection standards;
• Regularly check the status of the case management database, conduct case reviews and provide feedback to rural workers;
• Organize regular and special case management meetings with rural supervisors/community relays, in order to discuss complex cases and general problems related to their tasks;
• Conducting regular case audits to ensure that cases are and remain compliant with established Standard Operating Procedures and minimum standards for protection case management;
• Organize regular meetings with colleagues related to protection monitoring in order to discuss the general challenges related to their tasks and the identification of protection cases;
• Review data and information collected during protection monitoring and regularly compile protection reports highlighting gaps, concerns and trends to inform future programming;
• Coordinate and supervise psychosocial support activities carried out in community centers and/or communities;




• Provide guidance to social workers and community relays in the planning and implementation of participatory community activities, awareness sessions and campaigns and in general communication with communities;

• Identify the capacity building needs of protection staff, assess their knowledge and skills and, accordingly, provide learning opportunities through trainings, workshops and/or simulation exercises;
• Assist the Protection Focal Point in developing and/or updating protection tools and training materials to meet project needs;
• Assist the Project Manager/Programme Manager to prepare required donor reports, providing relevant information on protection related issues;
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with relevant partners and other project stakeholders working in the project areas;
• At the request of the supervisor, proactively participate in relevant regional general or sectoral coordination meetings.



Job requirements        
Education     – University degree, Bac+5 in social sciences or a related field
Experience – Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in the protection sector (including at least 1 year as a supervisor)
Language –
– Master ‘s degree the local language (written and spoken): Arabic, Fulfulde, Mandara, Mousgoum, Massa, Kotoko, Kanuri, etc.
Fluency in French (written and spoken) and knowledge of English is an asset

Strong technical knowledge in general protection (e.g. protection monitoring, case management, psychosocial support activities)

Computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
– Ability to work under pressure and in a team
– Hold a motorcycle driving license, category A (motorcycle driving is compulsory, therefore eliminatory).
