For the Congo Basin, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Communication Assistant.
Reports to: Coordinator of the Impact Monitoring Program for the Congo Basin
Location: Yaoundé
Duration: One year
Mission of the department
The countries of the Congo Basin actively contribute to the results of certain themes (wildlife
, forests, food, climate and energy , fresh water and governance) implemented in their
respective programs. A robust, integrated monitoring program has been designed and is being implemented to
demonstrate the impacts of conservation efforts and promote key conservation outcomes
. The regional program manager is engaged with the entire network to
develop decision support tools such as interactive dashboards and
online databases with a user-friendly interface. Hiring a Communications Assistant
in line with the current terms of reference will help support these ongoing projects in promoting
key activities and results.
Main Functions
Under the supervision of the Impact Monitoring Coordinator for the Congo Basin and the
technical supervision of the CCO Communications Manager, and in close collaboration with members of
the regional coordination team and national field program managers , the Communication Assistant
will develop and implement a communication strategy for the
regional monitoring program with a particular emphasis on the CIBEL project.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Produce a quarterly newsletter to promote program activities and results, while
supporting national program newsletters.
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon is recruiting a
Communications Assistant Support the creation of content on program activities and results for
WWF social media channels.
Assist with the layout and design of reports and other communications materials.
Support national communications managers to create and develop close and ongoing relationships
with journalists, editors and other media producers to showcase
program achievements.
Develop a tool to evaluate the success of communications efforts.
Provide support for any other program activities.
Profile
Qualifications required
At least, a Master’s degree or equivalent in the field of communication,
public relations, marketing, international relations and development. At least three years of experience working with marketing, journalism and media
networks . Proven skills in infographic design Proven experience with organizations involved in conservation issues and/or local communities will be a plus. Required skills and competencies: Good written and oral skills (English and French). Good reporting and IT skills (MS Office, Layout Software , Social Media Monitoring, etc.). Able to work with minimal supervision. Passionate about biodiversity conservation and protected area management. Able to work effectively in diverse cultural environments. Working relationships: ● Internal He will work in close collaboration with country communications managers, country program managers, national monitoring and evaluation managers, as well as national biomonitoring and communication teams, as well as with the regional team to collect the necessary data and results to promote. The position will be under the direct supervision of the Impact Monitoring Coordinator for the Congo Basin. ● External As part of the regional impact monitoring program, the position will require close collaboration with partner organizations such as WCS, ZSL, IUCN, COMIFAC/OFAC, AWF, etc. as well as national and international media. This job description covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the type of tasks that are proactively anticipated by staff. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary depending on organizational needs.
