Introduction

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private and independent humanitarian organization working on all aspects of the refugee cause in around 30 countries around the world. It is the first Danish NGO operating internationally for the protection of refugees and internally displaced persons against persecution and for the promotion of durable solutions to the problems of forced immigration and conflicts. All of DRC’s action is based on humanitarian principles and human rights, in accordance with United Nations conventions and the code of conduct of the ICRC and NGOs during disaster relief operations. The approach to protecting and assisting populations affected by conflict is provided in a long-term and rights-based approach to ensure a coherent and effective response to the challenges of today’s conflicts. The assistance consists of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation, support for returnees and repatriates as well as the promotion of long-term solutions to displacement and its causes. In addition, supporting and building the capacity of local and national authorities is an integral part of DRC’s work.

DRC is present in seven West African countries, namely Guinea Conakry, Mali, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Niger, Central African Republic, and Cameroon.

 

 

 

THE POSITION

Under the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Team Leader, the driver will be responsible for providing support to the project with regard to driving vehicles for the movement of staff and partners, as well as the transport of various materials and supplies. at the places indicated.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure the transport of personnel and any other authorized person within the framework of the activities of the project according to the highway code;
• Ensure the transport and distribution of materials and various supplies in the field;
• Ensure routine maintenance of the vehicle;
• Provide assistance for logistics work;
• Provide assistance for the collection and delivery of mail and parcels;
• Accomplish any other task requested by the supervisor in the field of his competence.

 

 

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS
• Have a valid driver’s license (category D)
• Have a level of training equivalent to college and be able to read and write French;
• Justify an experience of at least three (03) years as a driver, preferably in an international organization;
• Have basic knowledge of auto mechanics and be able to perform minor repairs
• Have a good knowledge of the East region and Adamaoua;
• Be motivated and have moral integrity and able to work under pressure;
• Be available to work outside working hours;
• Team player and ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with co-workers.

PRACTICAL DETAILS:

The position of driver is classified in band J of DRC jobs.

DURATION OF THE CONTRACT: 12 months.
