Recruitment notice: a Field Agent position for the CaSeVe project
The Noé association is looking for a field agent position for the CaSeVe project in Voko

1) General context of the position
Noé is an association for the protection of nature, general interest and non-profit, created
in 2001. It deploys in France and internationally actions to safeguard biodiversity
for the benefit of all living species, including the human species. To
do this, Noé implements programs for the conservation of threatened species, the management
of protected natural areas, the restoration of ordinary biodiversity and natural environments.

Within its international activities, Noé is organized into 3 complementary missions: i)
endangered species, ii) protected areas, iii) pro-biodiversity sectors.
Through these 3 missions, Noé’s objective is to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity
by i) the sustainable development of ecosystems and their resources by and for the
benefit of local communities and by ii) the structuring of protected areas decentralized systems
allowing populations to be put back at the heart of territorial issues and therefore to better
protect certain key species. Noé has been working in Cameroon since 2012 and has supported the development of sectors around various protected areas, in partnership with Cameroonian
NGOs . Noé is involved in the implementation of component 3 of the “Cameroon Septentrion Vert et Résilient” (CaSeVe) project, initiated and supported by the European Union and which aims to increase the resilience of the North, Far North and Adamaoua regions. in the face of, among other things, the food and climate crises. The project has three components with complementary objectives . Component 3 proposes a global approach to the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity as a driver of green economic growth and
inclusive for the benefit of local communities and the preservation of natural resources
and habitats. This component is led by the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), Noé
ensures the coordination of the components of support for local communities, development
of economic activity, and transparency on the mechanisms of redistribution of the
benefits of the Zones of Game Interest (ZIC ). Conserve Global is the third
consortium member of the project.
Noé will work more specifically with local actors on:
• The promotion of income-generating activities for local communities
Noé will support the development of pro-biodiversity value chains, linking the
conservation of biodiversity and the economic development of local populations
living around Faro National Park and ZICs, through the promotion of
non-timber forest products and other natural products with a low impact on biodiversity
• The evaluation of economic benefits potentials of biodiversity and
ecosystems around the PNF
Noé will conduct an assessment of the potential of the biodiversity components of the North
to generate economic benefits for local communities, the government and the
private sector.
• Improving governance and the redistribution of benefits that ZICs
share with local communities
Noé will assess opportunities compatible with hunting and conservation for communities
bordering ZICs, and support the incubation of community projects. Noé
will also participate in improving a transparent mechanism for redistributing the
benefits of ZICs.
In this context, Noé is looking for a field agent for the CaSeVe project who will be
responsible for the execution of field activities.
2) General objective of the position and conditions
Under the direct supervision of the CaSeVe Project Coordinator (Voko), the Field Agent
(TA) will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of scheduled field activities and
establishing good liaison between communities and other actors (authorities,
lessees, partners).
The TA will be based in Voko in the project premises (MINFOF living base). Daily trips
will be expected in the Faro landscape mainly but also outside.
3) Duties and Responsibilities
The Project TA will be placed under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator. He/She
will assume the following responsibilities and tasks:
• Support participatory management actions, in particular the facilitation of consultation frameworks
in its intervention sites;
• Support capacity building and sensitization of
local resource management institutions;
• Ensure close monitoring of the implementation of income-generating activities
;
• Ensuring awareness-raising and information activities for local communities and
other actors targeted under the project;
• Ensure the relay between the actors in the field and the project for their better involvement
in the implementation of activities;
• Contribute to capacity building of local actors to ensure
better involvement and participation in the Project;
• Support local organizations in popularizing good
natural resource management practices;
• Contribute to the realization of the various technical studies;
• Help organize follow-up and coordination meetings with participants;
• Ensure the consolidation of implementation reports, and produce a
monthly report;
• Provide support in daily monitoring and evaluation activities and
actively participate in the annual or mid-term evaluation process of the project;
• Consolidate the monthly evaluation sheets;
• Any other tasks entrusted to it by the Project Coordinator for its proper implementation
.
4) Required profile
Diplomas / Training
• Hold a university degree in the fields of Forestry, Sociology
, Environment, Agronomy, Geography, or any other
similar rural development discipline.
Professional experience
• Have at least 3 years of experience in the field of rural animation and
supervision of communities in the management of natural resources and
micro-subsidies;
• Desired experience of at least 1 year in conservation projects;
• Have an excellent knowledge of the environmental, agronomic,
forestry, political, economic and social context of Cameroon in general and the far north
in particular;
• Have a mastery of group facilitation and active listening techniques;
Qualities / Abilities
• Sense of organization and method;
• Ability to adapt, be flexible and to work in difficult areas;
• Hold at least a license to drive 2-wheeled vehicles (Category
A) and able to make regular trips on a motorcycle;
• Dynamism and capacity for initiative;
• Have a good sense of analysis and writing;
• Team spirit and good interpersonal skills.
Other knowledge:
• Good computer skills;
• Fluency in English desired;
