The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation is seeking to recruit an experienced accountant to oversee general bookkeeping and accounting operations. This full-time position will be based in Yaoundé.
Accountant expectations
· Payroll management;
· Declaration and payment CNPS & Taxes;
· Prepares grant financial reports and project tracking sheet;
· Download bank and cash transactions into Quickbooks;
· Prepare annual budgets and financial reports;
· Review log entries and codes;
· Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; prepare reports;
· Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options;
· Summarizes the current financial situation by gathering information; prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports;
· Justifies financial transactions by verifying documents;
· Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures;
· Guide accounting office staff by coordinating activities and answering questions;
· Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information;
· Secures financial information by performing database backups;
· Maintains financial security by following internal controls;
· Prepares payments by verifying documents and requesting disbursements;
· Responds to accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations;
· Perform a physical verification of assets at least once a year to ensure that all assets are properly recorded and coded;
· Performs other accounting related tasks in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
Qualifications/skills required
· Good knowledge of Quickbooks;
· Accounting;
· Reporting skills;
· Attention to detail;
· Oriented towards deadlines;
· Privacy;
· Management of time.
Training and experience required
Bilingual candidates (English and French) preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
· Minimum 3 years of accounting/finance experience. (Preferably in an NGO);
· Experience with financial reporting requirements;

· Experience working with multiple donors;
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
· Ability to lead and motivate a small team would be an advantage;
Willingness to relocate to Yaoundé
