Missions of the department:  
In a spirit of excellence, integrity and dedication, the Finance & Administration department undertakes to provide timely information accurate, clear and comprehensive and to support a high performing WWF Program Office in Cameroon (CCPO), with financial and accounting operations, logistics and IT services, effective and efficient internal systems and controls, and management sound financial resources to carry out conservation activities and the overall strategic plan.

Main duties :   
The accountant corrects, processes and reconciles a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, program billings, employee reimbursements, cash receipts and supplier account statements; it examines the financial information; prepares and processes documents to disburse funds, make deposits and prepare reports; prepares bank signature updates, prepares consultancy contracts and grants, compiles and reviews information for accuracy; and he keeps records.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Process payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers, employee reimbursements and statements;
• Enter, update and/or retrieve accounting data from automated systems;
• Assign codes to data;
• Prepare financial reports (donors and management) for the projects entrusted to him;
• Determine content and assemble data to prepare monthly reports for review;
• Pre-verify, verify and process employee expense claims; review rules to verify employee compliance;
• Establish and review working methods, forms, formats and standards to improve operational efficiency;
• Ensure work meets quality and production standards by verifying accuracy and proper execution of work and monitoring production;

 

 

 

• Classify and/or delete files and reports;
• Assist in the timely closing of monthly accounts by ensuring that cash management, accounts payable and general ledger data are up to date;
• Assist in preparing cost recovery logs and uploading them to the Oracle system;
• Assume the following roles in Oracle: AP User, GL User and use AGIS;
• Prepare bank reconciliations and perform analysis of general ledger accounts manually and in the Oracle system;
• Maintain adequate control over various financial records such as commitments and expenditures against budgeted amounts; initiate actions related to the following: general financial information, travel payments and procurement transactions;
• Review supplier claims to ensure accuracy and compliance with WWF financial rules and regulations; Perform claims checks against documentation to ensure purchases/services are properly authorized and goods have been received or services rendered; and ensure timely recording and processing of vendor invoices in Oracle;
• Analyze Interco accounts;
• Monitor vendor advances and other receivables and ensure timely clearance of outstanding vendor items, taking corrective follow-up action as necessary;
• Prepare bank signatory updates in accordance with approved signatory matrix and WWF bank management procedures;
• With logistics, coordinate the inventory of the asset register and enter it into the system;
• Provide assistance with all staff services such as travel, expense claims, document retrieval, etc.;
• Perform other related duties as required.

Candidate profile:  
Qualifications required  
• BSc degree in Accounting/Finance or related field and professional accounting qualification such as Chartered Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA) is required;
• At least three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in financial accounting, preferably in an international environment (NGO or corporate);
• Experience working with government and donors;
• Competence in the use of MS Office applications, in particular an advanced level in MS excel, is required;
• Experience in the use of an ERP system is highly desirable.

 

 



 

Required Skills and Competencies   
• Knowledge of automated accounting systems. Knowledge of Oracle would be an added advantage • Knowledge of spreadsheets and database software;
• Knowledge of general record keeping and filing systems;
• Ability to understand and apply current accounting guidelines, system updates and revisions, and policy changes;
• Ability to reconcile and/or balance financial transactions and accounts;
• Ability to manage contracts and update bank signatories.
• Ability to help others solve work problems;
• High ethics and a personal commitment to transparency and accountability; • Adherence to the values ​​of WWF, which are: Courage, respect, integrity and collaboration.

 




 

Working relationships
Internally: CCPO finance staff, finance and administration manager, regional finance team, WWF Cameroon officials and project staff;
Externally: Donors, partners and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
