Background and rationale

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (YDF) is a non-profit and apolitical association whose objective is to contribute to the promotion of health in Cameroon. This association under Cameroonian law was created in 1996, it is the manifestation of the will of a group of young people to empower themselves. It participates in building the capacity of communities in the area of ​​SDSR, promotes rights and information on reproductive health, as well as related rights, and conducts related advocacy. Moreover, Y DF participates in the setting up of networks of useful and effective partners.
Y DF is Sub Recipient (SR) under the CHILL PROJECT funded by USAID, whose Principal Recipient is CARE and HEALTH PROGRAM (CHIP)

THE ACCOUNTANT
Under the supervision of the Executive Coordinator, the ACCOUNTANT will have the following tasks:
Responsibilities and key activities
1. Accounting and finance
Participates in the centralization of the association’s accounting at the branch level; Processing, verification of conformity and classification of accounting documents; Codification and recording of accounting documents:
Keeping on the software of all the cash and bank journals of the antenna;
Application of the accounting and financial procedures in force at Y DF and at the partners;
Participates in updating the file of fixed assets and equipment of the antenna,
Manages inventory of office supplies and consumables;

 

Participates in the administrative management of the payment of compensation for all Y DF stakeholders;
Participates in the preparation of financial statements;
Performs the bank reconciliation statements of the antenna
2. Management of the fund
Keep a fund supplied by means of payment of funds by the headquarters;
Make disbursements in accordance with the provisions of the Horizons Femmes procedure manual and the requirements of the donor; check the supporting documents and ensure their conformity; ensure the daily maintenance of the cash register; ensure the security of the funds held.
3. Budget management
Participates in the development of the association’s budgets and action plan (annual budget, project budgets, donor budgets)

Monitoring and control of approved budget expenditures
Participates in the production of Horizons Femmes financial reports on time ( reports to be submitted to donors, management reports/monthly and annual budget monitoring) under the procedures applicable to Y DF and the requirements of donors.
4. Internal control
Application of accounting and financial management procedures, in accordance with the procedures manual applicable to Y DF and the requirements of donors, control of invoices and other supporting documents, supplies, and fixed assets:
Participate in financial audits and ensure that all audit recommendations related to his responsibilities are implemented during the following year;
Be responsible for the proper filing of supporting documents for the purposes of annual audits and partner controls.
5. Other Missions

 

Performs all other activities contributing to the smooth running of the branch’s activities. NB: Each staff member is required to produce a monthly time sheet (PAR) to support his activity report.
Profile sought:
The position is open to anyone (male or female) who meets the following conditions:
Education: BAC+3 Accounting and Finance, with a BAC G2
Minimum experience of one year within an NGO or an accounting firm
Experience in the administrative and financial monitoring of projects mobilizing national and/or international funding will be required; Rigor and taste for accuracy
Have a sense of organization, good planning, and be solution-oriented
Be flexible, have good thinking and listening skills, good self-control;
Be able to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams;

 

 

Ability to cope with stress and work under pressure;
Have a good command of the French language (working knowledge of the English language);
Ability to work independently in different environments and situations;
Have a good command of computers, especially Microsoft Office.
