Associate Technical Research Officer

How will you fight for a generation without AIDS?
The Associate Technical Research Officer will work within the Research Department under the supervision of Public Health Evaluation and Research to advance the Foundation’s research goals aimed at improving the prevention, care and treatment of COVID. He/she is responsible for all aspects of research preparation and implementation, including participation in the planning, organization, delivery, monitoring and coordination of research projects. He/she will work closely with other members of the research and evaluation team, the program department, the SI&E department and the operations department to conduct research studies relevant to the program. EGPAF and technical needs and priorities in the area of COVID. The Associate Technical Research Officer will contribute to capacity building through the supervision, training and coaching of junior staff and supervisees, and will communicate regularly with the study investigators on the progress and conduct of the studies. of research.

COVID Research and Assessments:
Support the coordination of assessment and preparation of study sites in Cameroon.
· Participate in the review and ensure local validation of Study Report Forms (CRFs), Consent Forms, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
· Collaborate with the Data Manager to ensure that all study sites have data collection tools.
· Support the local training of study nurses and community health workers (CHWs) in accordance with the GCPs.
· Monitor study progress in accordance with protocol, SOPs and GCPs.
· Ensure that the site investigator’s file is complete.
· Regularly participate in study meetings with the country principal investigator, with the trial manager and in EGPAF research/institutional meetings.
· Immediately report any serious adverse events to the Country Principal Investigator, Coordinating Investigator, Core Research Team Trial Leader, and Sponsor.
· Ensure that any deviations from the study are recorded and that major deviations are communicated in a timely manner to the regulatory authorities, the trial manager and the sponsor. If necessary, write a report on the progress of the study for the attention of the Ministry of Health or other local health authorities.
Support program evaluations and liaise with technical advisory team and other EGPAF staff at evaluation sites to ensure identification of relevant research questions and successful implementation implementing assessments.
· Develop and maintain partnerships and networks with other district and health facility managers in EGPAF evaluation study districts/sites to ensure smooth project implementation.
Perform periodic internal review of the evaluation study and audit of evaluation study documentation to ensure compliance of data collectors with evaluation protocol, standard operating procedures and requirements regulations.
Participate in capacity building by mentoring and teaching other junior staff on important aspects of research and evaluations, including developing staff skills in writing research protocols, abstracts and manuscripts for publication.
Contribute, as appropriate, to the review, analysis and interpretation of assessment data and the dissemination of results through publication in international journals and presentation of abstracts in national scientific meetings and organizations, in accordance with EGPAF policies and donor requirements.
· Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Senior Technical Research Officer and the Associate Director of Public Health Assessments.
To pass, you must have:
A medical degree or equivalent degree in the relevant field.
Bac+5 in public health, epidemiology or licence(s), certification(s) in the field of research.
Knowledge and understanding of human subjects research ethics and GCPs.
At least two years of experience in the field of clinical or operational research and program evaluation.
Perfect professional command of English or French and ability to work in the other language.
Previous experience in COVID research or program is highly appreciated.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong writing skills and ability to develop research protocols, abstracts and manuscripts for publication.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while working in a team.
Computer proficiency, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent communication skills.
