DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER

CALL FOR INTERNAL APPLICATIONS FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF AN  AUDITORS/ACCOUNTANT  FOR THE PROJECTS OF THE CLUSTER DEVELOPMENT “SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL SYSTEMS AND AGRICULTURAL POLICIES” OF THE DEUTSCHE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR INTERNATIONALE ZUSAMMENARBEIT GmbH FOR THE CITY OF YAOUNDE.

 

The Rural Development Cluster (CDR) is made up of several projects in the sector which plan to improve the economic situation of the rural population, particularly women and young people in Cameroon. The target group of the projects varies between the technical ministerial departments involved, specialized institutions, practical agricultural training schools and the private sector, associated with producer and processor organizations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Cluster is looking for an Auditor / Accountant for the Yaoundé office. The job holder will probably allocate 100% of their working time to the “Sustainable Agricultural Systems and Agricultural Policies (AgSyS)” Project. The allocation may change depending on the capacities needed in the Cluster.

 




 

Description of tasks

 

Under the supervision of the administrative and financial manager of the cluster, the position holder will be mainly responsible for ensuring and/or facilitating:

  • Ensure the quality/regularity of supporting documents and their conformity;
  • Check all supporting documents (invoices, travel expense statements / workshop payment statements / expenses from local grant agreements, consultation contracts, purchases, etc.) as well as their correct allocation and coding;
  • Be in charge of classification in accordance with GIZ rules;
  • Carry out the implementation of corrections noted in error notifications from the monthly closing of project accounts by the Regional Office;
  • Provide upstream coaching/training as well as accounting support/supervision for structures benefiting from local subsidies;
  • Carry out a capacity analysis of beneficiaries of local subsidies falling within the scope of the project;
  • Ensure the monitoring and regularization of receivables and debts;
  • Actively participate in the preparation of internal controls as well as the implementation of related reports;
  • Contribute to the preparation and analysis of expenses in accordance with the budget;
  • Check vehicle logbooks monthly, keep fuel consumption records and report in the event of an anomaly;
  • Maintain, verify and countersign inventory lists;
  • Support internal control missions and ensure the implementation of related recommendations;
  • Systematically report on issues related to financial administration and compliance with rules;
  • Assume other tasks upon instruction from management.

 

 

REQUIRED PROFILE

Qualifications, skills and experience required

Qualification :

Hold at least a Bac + 3 in Accounting, Finance, Management Control or other equivalent diploma.

 

Professional experience

 

4 – 5 years of experience in a similar position including 2 years in an international organization.

Other knowledge/skills

 

  • Good working knowledge of the use of information and communication technologies (corresponding software as well as telephone, fax, e-mail, Internet) as well as computer applications (such as MS Office)
  • Mastery of accounting software (WINPACCS, CASHBOOK) would be an asset;
  • Good synthesis and analysis skills / Work oriented towards quality and results;
  • Team spirit and constructive attitude in the event of difficulties or conflicts;
  • Ability to think, be proactive and optimize work;
  • Speed ​​of learning and adaptability;
  • Be able to work under pressure and in a multicultural team;
  • Be honest and able to work independently;
  • Be open to criticism and recommendations for improvement;
  • Have a good sense of work organization and respect for deadlines;
  • Mastery of the French language and/or the English language; knowledge of German would be an asset.

 

 

Contract start date  :  January 1, 2024

Contract period  :  2 years (renewable)

Duty station  :  Yaoundé

Internal classification of the position: Band 4,  under the hierarchical supervision of the
