CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE INTERNAL / EXTERNAL RECRUITMENT OF AN AUTOMOBILE DRIVER (M/F) FOR  THE PROJECT TO SUPPORT THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC RESILIENCE OF YOUNG VULNERABLES IN NORTHERN CAMEROON (GIZ/PARSE III) DEUTSCHE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR INTERNATIONALE ZUSAMMENARBEIT GmbH IN NGAOUNDERE .

 




 

 

A. BACKGROUND

The Project to Support the Socio-economic Resilience of Vulnerable Youth in the North of Cameroon (Far North, North and Adamaoua), in its phase 3 (GIZ/PARSE III), in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is in full implementation.

The project has two (2) axes, namely: (1) improving the socio-economic resilience of vulnerable young people in the three regions of northern Cameroon and (2) strengthening peaceful coexistence in the 17 partner municipalities. Its target group consists of vulnerable women and men between the ages of 18 and 35.

As part of the monitoring of its activities, the Project wishes to recruit a  car driver  ( Chauffeur ) in  N’Gaoundéré .




 

B. RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Ensure in a safe and responsible manner all business trips with company vehicles;
  • Perform regular maintenance of service vehicles;
  • Take into account all the information available concerning the state of the roads, the routes and the practicable localities;
  • Running errands for the Project;
  • Maintain all project vehicle(s) paperwork and integrity;
  • Assist with other Project tasks.

 

 

 

C. AWARDS

In this context, the incumbent has the following responsibilities:

 

1. Driving

 The incumbent will:

  • Ensure the transport of people with a service vehicle for project employees, guests and official visitors;
  • Run errands for the project: send letters or messages, pay bills, buy small quantities of office supplies, etc. ;
  • Assist in the transportation of goods;
  • Keep the log book accurately and conscientiously in accordance with GIZ standards.

 2.  Vehicle maintenance

 The post holder will:

  • Regularly ensure the cleanliness of the vehicle(s) inside and outside;
  • Check oil levels, water, brakes, brake fluid, tire pressure, water in battery;
  • Check the entire condition of the vehicle (headlights, brakes, impacts on the bodywork, etc.) monthly or after 5,000 km, whichever comes first;
  • Ensure the daily maintenance of the road book and the recording of monthly maintenance;
  • Report maintenance needs and perform minor repairs;
  • Immediately report any involvement in an accident, however minor, as well as any damage to the project vehicle, any deterioration or theft of vehicle equipment. 

 3.  Knowledge management

 The incumbent will:

  • Use all available sources of information (including radio traffic updates) to be aware of road conditions, accessible routes and localities, and share this information with other Drivers in the Project.

 4.  Other powers

 The job holder:

  • Stay on the project to help co-workers as needed, and perform other office work as instructed.

REQUIRED PROFILE

D. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

Qualification

  • Minimum secondary level BEPC or an equivalent diploma;
  • Holder of a valid “D” driving license. 

Professional experience

  • At least 1 to 3 years of experience as a Professional Driver – references required;
  • No major accident in the last 3 years.

Other knowledge/skills

  • Understand, speak and write French;
  • English or pidgin English would be an asset;
  • Good knowledge of local languages ​​desired;
  • Be disciplined and punctual;
  • Have a sense of endurance at work and patience;
  • Be able to work under pressure and in a multicultural team;
  • Be neat (dress), polite / courteous, have easy communication and a sense of hierarchical relations;
  • Good knowledge of the city of Yaoundé;
  • Be perfectly fit to drive;
  • Have knowledge of automotive mechanics;
  • Be able to acquire the qualifications required in the areas of assignment.
  • Appropriate training measures are chosen in consultation with the responsible executive.

 

Contract start date  :  April 01, 2023

Contract period  :   until March 31, 2025 (CDD renewable)

Duty station  :  N’Gaoundéré

Deadline for admissibility of application files:  March 18, 2023

 

Internal job classification:  Band  1A  under the hierarchical supervision of the PARSE III Project Coordinator.
