JOB OFFER at IMC International Medical Corps, NGO CAMEROON

International Medical Corps (IMC) Cameroon is looking for the needs of its support program for Nigerian refugees and host populations settled in the Far North region, Maroua Zone, a Caregiver residing in the Far North zone:

Location: Maroua

 




 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION;

The nursing assistant will be based in Maroua and will assist the patient referred to the regional hospital of Maroua. He/she will be responsible for the administrative and necessary support to refugee patients referred for secondary and tertiary care in this health facility. He is responsible for directing refugees referred to care and ensuring that they receive appropriate care.

 

 

Essential Duties

A. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES / SCOPE OF WORK:

1. Ensure administrative follow-up of patients referred for secondary care.

Welcome, reassure and put the referred patient at ease.
Systematically record useful information from patients and their follow-up at the level of the referral hospital.

Ensure that patients receive the necessary support, including food, throughout their hospital stay.
Collaborate with hospital staff on the proper management of referred patients.
Inform the supervisor of any restrictive situation that could make the patient’s stay in the hospital difficult.
Inform the supervisor of any restrictive situation that may make it difficult for the patient to stay in the hospital.
Accompany patients after discharge to Minawao refugee camp or other health facility in case of cross-referral.

 

 

 

2. Ensure availability of quality health care procedures for the referred patient

Ensure that the referred patient receives the prescribed care
Verify that patients receive the necessary attention of necessary services from health service providers during their stay in the hospital.
Accompany patients referred to other health structures and ensure that care has started before returning to Maroua.
Identify and report the needs of each patient or provide appropriate solutions where possible.
Liaise with Pharmacy Assistant and Financial Assistant in the provision of specialty drugs not available at the referral hospital.
3. Collect and provide documentation for reimbursement of patient care

Collect and verify all bills and proof of care during patient stay and submit to program for verification before sharing with funding for payment
Articulate patient financial need in terms of food by completing the cash request form sent to the financial department
Collect proof of expenditure for food support provided to hospitalized patients on a weekly basis
4. Data collection and reports

Collect data on referred patients, including admissions, cures, deaths, cross-referrals, births, and other specific interventions such as caesareans.
Share this collected information with the program on a weekly basis with the Data Manager
Provide summary reports of patients referred to Maroua Regional Hospital as soon as a referral or discharge is made;
Maintain flexibility to perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
B. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Hold a diploma in health care nursing;
Proof of professional experience in primary health care services, including management of acute malnutrition, with at least 02 years with NGOs operating in a similar environment;
Possess a good command of first aid including patient referral;
Be of Cameroonian nationality and have the ability to work in a team;
Ability to speak French and English. Speaking another language (Fulfulde, Massa, Kapsiki…) is an asset;
Have experience with NGOs;
Good ability to work in a multi-ethnic environment.
C. Other:

Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and among beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Depending on the position, the candidate must promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics

of International Medical Corps and donors and comply with these standards.
If it is a supervisory position, you must model ethical behavior through your own
conducting and supervising the work of others; ensure that those reporting to you have sufficient knowledge and resources to follow the standards outlined in the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics; monitor the compliance of those you supervise; apply the International Medical Corps Code of Conduct and Ethics and policies, including the Safeguard Policy and the Protection Against Harassment, Bullying, and Sexual Misconduct in the Workplace Policy, consistently and fair; support employees who, in good faith, raise questions or concerns.
