Job Description Summary

 

Under the general supervision of COP, Communication and Information Officer assists in the creation and delivery of memorandums, organizational materials and announcements, events and other deliverables pertaining to organizational communications. Focuses on developing and delivering clear, concise, and coordinated organizational messaging across multiple communications vehicles and on fostering opportunities for dialogue between staff and leadership. Works across all communications platforms, including email, website, social media platforms and company intranet. Serves on all assigned projects, ensuring quality and smooth production from start to finish of project. Assists unit lead in meeting all unit deliverables, including planning and budget assistance. Plans and coordinates meetings and events as needed.

 

 




 

Job Summary:

Works across all communications platforms, including email, website, social media platforms and company intranet. Serves as project manager for assigned projects, ensuring quality and smooth production from start to finish of project. Assists unit lead in meeting all unit deliverables, including planning and budget assistance. Plans and coordinates meetings and events as needed.

 

 

Accountabilities:

 

    • Develop a communication strategy for PARC-Cameroon project and oversee the coordination of all project communication activities.
    • Document and disseminate the project’s work and messages including fact sheets, newsletters, publications, press releases, press briefings, letters to the editor and other related media material.
    • Produce regular success stories including lessons learned pieces, best practices as
      needed for USAID.
    • Coach staff for best practice for any media presentation and appearance.  Edit and review all media content with HQ before broadcasting.
    • Manage and prepare for site visits by high-ranking delegations from USAID, FHI360, and other national and international delegations. Develop related supporting documents for site visits as required.
    • Work closely with PARC’s technical staff and MEL to develop and/or adapt
      communication material.
    • Researches, writes, and edits a broad range of communications that promote the activities of the organization.
    • Provides publicity and promotional support for special events and community outreach activities.
    • Develops and implements communications and public relations strategies to promote and publicize a variety of departmental projects, services and programs.
    • Develop communication materials using a variety of tactics (written communications, videos, photos, press piece, presentation materials, …) to clearly articulate key messages to the desired audience. Provide day-to-day management and coordination of communication activities.
    • Ensure that all PARC’s deliverables are correctly branded as per the approved Marking and Branding Strategy with USAID.
    • Work closely with the PARC management team – to support writing, editing and finalization for the communication section monthly, quarterly and annual reports for final submission in English.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 




Applied Knowledge & Skills:

 

    • Knowledge of principles, theories and methods of communications, public relations, and journalism.
    • Strong understanding of company policies and communications.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to write, edits, and manages all facets of a publication.
    • Ability to work based on deadlines and write effectively for the appropriate audience.

    • Works on problems that are diverse in scope and require judgment in resolving or making recommendations for solutions.
    • Exercises judgment within defined policies and procedures to obtain solutions to perform duties.

Supervision Given/Received:

 

    • Has no supervisory responsibility.
    • Receives instructions on new assignments.
    • Reports to a Manager, Associate Director or Director.

 

 

Education:

 

    • Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent • English, Journalism, Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, or Related Field.

 

Experience:

 

    • Typically requires 5+ years of writing, editing, and publications experience.
    • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
    • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English and French.
    • Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO).

 

Typical Physical Demands:

 

    • Typical office environment.
    • Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
    • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.

 

Technology to be Used:

 

    • Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, electronic media, and standard office equipment.

 

Travel Requirements:

 

    • Less than 10%
