The Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation strives to catalyze Africa’s economic transformation through social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health and progressive policies that create economic opportunities for all. Our areas of work include sustainable development, science and innovation, health, leadership, education, entrepreneurship, economics and public policy. The Denis and Lenora Foundation is a not-for-profit umbrella institution with several departments including the Nkafu Policy Institute, Small Business and Entrepreneurship Center, Communication and Sustainable Development Programs.
Purpose
The communications department is recruiting a communications intern to support the construction of the Foundation’s brand.
Main activities
Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the annual communication strategy and the communication plan.
Maintain and update the Foundation’s social media pages.
Assist in the creation of graphics and other props for social media promotion.
Update media and other contact database to ensure they are accurate and up-to-date.
Assistance in the production and publication of videos.
Bring ideas to develop new communication channels for the Foundation.
Assist in the development of a monthly reporting system on Foundation communications activities
Generate online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action.
Other general responsibilities that may reasonably be requested over time.
Skills and Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess:
Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or any related field
Internship/work experience in a communications field.
Proficiency in online communications.
Flexible, open and reliable.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Or in any other field related to the above.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Fluency in English and French.
Mastery of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…).
Be a good communicator and a team player.
Be able to multi-task, be extremely organized and have meticulous attention to detail.
Desire to learn, take initiative and suggest best practices with a willingness to take and implement constructive feedback and advice.

What we offer Internship conditions:
We offer three (3) months of full-time internship with leading experts and scholars.
We also offer a transport allowance In-
house training and unlimited internet access.
Our interns have full access to research seminars, roundtables, workshops and discussion groups organized by the Nkafu Policy Institute and its partners, in addition to lectures on a wide range of emerging issues critical to business and political interests in Cameroon and in Africa at large.
Interns are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance for the duration of the internship. The Foundation declines all responsibility for costs resulting from accidents and/or illness or death occurring during the internship
The intern is responsible for organizing travel to and from Yaoundé where the internship will be carried out
Interns are not members staff and cannot represent the Foundation in an official capacity
The purpose of the internship program is not to lead to new employment with the Foundation, but to complete an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship
Interns should bring their own laptop to the start of their internship
Intern will be assessed at the end of the contract and work recognition will be issued by written.
