SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

 

As part of the execution of its programs and activities, the Multisectoral Regional Office of UNESCO is looking for a Communication Specialist. The incumbent will work under the direct authority of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Yaoundé, supported by the Communication and Information (CI) sector and in close collaboration with other program specialists. As such, he/she will have the following tasks and responsibilities:

 

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with heads of offices and branches in the region, heads of sectors and teams, project managers to understand the objectives and results of programs and projects to be promoted in the media;
  • Audit and redefinition of the Regional Office’s communication methodologies in order to create a cross-cutting and harmonized global strategic vision;
  • Supervise and support the action of the communication teams;
  • Advise and contribute to multimedia projects and events (including online platforms, television and radio);
  • Lead reflections on promotional content and targeted communications on UNESCO’s work in Central Africa and for strategic projects;
  • Design, develop with the support of the teams, and coordinate the production of communication products related to the work of UNESCO, including the provision of content for the UNESCO website, the UNESCO intranet page and the office website;
  • Create, coordinate and support the production and placement of features, editorials, infographics, videos, documentaries, audio radio message and other content elements aimed at maintaining community, national, regional and global awareness of UNESCO’s work and projects in Central Africa;
  • Supervise and coordinate external communication providers to ensure the harmonization of content production;
  • Undertake field trips and missions as a focal point with the media;
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to it.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

Advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in the field of communication, marketing or in an equivalent field.

Professional experience :

Minimum of 3 years of experience in the fields of communication, marketing or an equivalent field.

Skills and Skills:

Excellent communication skills;

Excellent listening and coaching skills;

High sense of professional duty, honesty and responsibility;

Flexible and proactive personality;

Ability to work with and within multicultural teams.

Language :

Excellent written and oral knowledge and practice of French and/or English, a good knowledge of the other language.
