For our Mambele office, we are looking for a Community Facilitator (Intern) to support the
WWF/Jengi-TNS program.

One (01) year renewable
Mission of the department:
The WWF has maintained an effective presence in the region since 1995, when it created the Jengi
South East Forest program. The program later evolved into the current Jengi Tri-National de la Sangha
(TNS) program which supports Lobeke National Park (LNP) and its surrounding area in wildlife conservation,
contributing to the well-being of local populations and the sustainable management of natural resources through a
landscape approach in partnership with the Ministry of Forests and Wildlife, the Foundation for the Tri-National of the
Sangha (FTNS).
The FTNS supports the PNL and its peripheral area through the following annual work programs:

Facilitator (Trainee) to support the WWF/Jengi-TNS2 program
Program 1: Administration and infrastructure development;
Program 2: Protection;
Program 3: Participatory management and sustainable development;
Program 4: Research, ecological and socio-economic monitoring;
Program 5: Cross-border cooperation.
Main duties:
The Community Facilitator (Intern) will contribute, under the supervision of the Community Development Officer (CDO),
to the implementation of program 3 of the annual work plan of the LNP, and will support the achievement of the
overall mission of the Jengi- TNS as needed. In line with WWF Cameroon’s vision of a future with
healthy ecosystems and thriving biodiversity supporting people and sustainable development in
Cameroon, the mission of the Jengi-TNS program is to halt the decline of biodiversity, reverse the trend
negative impact and contribute to improving the living conditions of local communities and indigenous peoples
(Baka).
Under the supervision of the CDO, the volunteer in charge of community development and participatory management
will have the following main tasks:
● Contribute to the achievement of all the results of program 3;
● Inform the local communities and indigenous Baka populations of WWF’s activities and initiatives
in favor of the Baka;
● Carry out sensitization, education and popularization of the laws in force in the area of
sustainable management of forest and wildlife resources;
● Provide technical assistance for the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between MINFOF and
ASBABUK, recognizing and protecting the rights of indigenous Baka peoples in the PNL and its
periphery;
● Monitor and provide guidance on community development activities (IGA,
Community Forest, Citizenship, Support for education, Human Rights, Ecotourism, Sustainable management
of wildlife and forest royalties, etc.), implemented by Civil Society Organizations
, on behalf of the PNL with funding from the FTNS;
● Provide technical and organizational assistance to local communities and
indigenous Baka populations to develop and implement IGA activities;
● Collect relevant data for socio-economic monitoring; ● Contribute to ensuring Program compliance with technical and financial reporting and monitoring/evaluation
requirements ;
● Execute all other tasks, entrusted by the CDO, in connection with the communities and respecting the
policies of WWF.
Profile of the candidate:
Qualifications required ● Have at least a degree in forestry, social sciences, law, governance, natural
resource management ; ● Have at least one (01) year of professional experience in the participatory management of protected areas and particularly in health-population and environment approaches, community animation,3 support for peasant groups and village cooperatives, etc. Skills and competencies required ● Have a good knowledge of the WWF’s area of intervention in the TNS landscapes;
● Have experience of working with communities in forest areas;
● Have a strong ability to write notes and activity reports;
● Communication skills, ability to lead field teams and work under pressure;
● Fluency in English and French;
● Proactive approach to meeting deadlines and achieving results with limited supervision;
● Willingness and ability to live and work in a remote area;
● Knowing the local languages (Kounabembe, Mvongvong, Bagando, Baka…) would be an asset;
● Knowledge of local culture, customs and traditions is desirable;
