DEMAND PLANNING & LOGISTICS DIRECTOR (M/F)

On behalf of our client, a major player in the industry in Cameroon, we are looking for a Demand Planning & Logistics Director who will report to the General Director of the company.
MAIN MISSIONS OF THE POSITION:
The Demand Planning & Logistics Director we are looking for is a Supply Chain Strategist whose mission will be to ensure the reliability, profitability, efficiency and execution of logistics costs and S&OP (sales and operations) of the company. Its mission involves producing, in collaboration with sales management and production, the most accurate sales forecasts possible, with a view to logistical optimization of deadlines, costs and quantities, while guaranteeing the availability of products on the market. He must design, organize and participate in the definition of the most rational strategies in order to ensure the progress of the product from its production to its distribution in Cameroon and in the sub-region with a constant objective of optimizing the quality/service/relationship. cost.
The Demand Planning & Logistics Director must also plan, manage and evaluate all activities and budgets related to the supply chain area such as the supply of raw materials, warehousing, Customer Service, inventory control, transportation, handling and strategic planning.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management of logistics operations:
Establish and manage the entire planning process that governs the balance between demand and supply;
Ensure that each step of the process is carried out in a way that effectively excludes opportunities for lost sales and costly delays;
Lead the development of price and service negotiation strategies by implementing actions to reduce costs, lead times and inventory at both supplier and customer levels;
Ensure the efficiency of order taking, planning and overall support to customers by sales administration;
Continually review the procurement process and implement improvement and cost reduction measures;
Manage the process of identifying problems related to the logistics aspect, propose ways of improvement via a supply chain performance monitoring service and the implementation of the solution with the departments concerned;
Manage the logistics aspect of the company’s raw material and product life cycles, including coordination, provision of samples and minimizing obsolescence;
Communicate with and represent the company to existing and potential suppliers – distributors, the public, government and other external industry sources;
Define and assist in the deployment of new logistics agents (example of Vendor Managed Inventory – VMI process)
Understand customer needs, satisfy them, maintain and strengthen positive business relationships with key personnel of these two stakeholders, who report directly to or are associated with logistics activities.
Management & Coordination
Management of a large team spread across the national territory, ensuring their training and skills development;
Coordinate the weekly activities of supply operations for the company’s various warehouses, regions, distributors and customers;
Establish policies and standards, among other things, determine health and safety procedures relating to the handling of dangerous products and ensure compliance with regulations applicable to transport;
Ensure sound management and compliance with regulations in force;
Ensure good communication of logistics actions and decisions relating to all people concerned (factory and quality departments);
Identify and manage the risk inherent in logistics activities.
Creation and maintenance of profitability and logistics cost dashboards
Measure overall supply chain performance using the OTIFIC (On Time, In Full, Invoiced Correctly: Automated Database for Quality Measurement) method, a TSCC (Stock Price and Chart) method and others key performance indicators against objectives;
Evaluate the necessary optimization, propose action plans and related major challenges;
Establish key performance indicators, monitor and improve performance against objectives;
Develop and implement profit growth plans and change management plans;
Determine potential projects that would make it possible to make changes and significant improvements to the supply chain and outsource the selected projects;
Direct the formulation of mathematical or process simulation models, determine constants, variables, restrictions, options, conflicting objectives and their parameters;
Carry out cost analyzes of the lifespan of a system.
Technological monitoring and support
Develop and supervise logistics support planning, organization and execution activities such as maintenance planning, repair analysis and equipment recommendations;
Keep abreast of technological advances in logistics and adopt the appropriate technology according to the company’s particularities and processes;
Initiate and participate in the digitalization of processes for better monitoring of operations;
Resolve issues related to logistics work, prepare and submit progress reports and other reports;
Health, Safety & Environment
Work in compliance with corporate Health, Safety & Environment rules and standards;
Participate and mobilize internal staff and those of subcontracting transport companies to comply with local health & safety standards;
Coordinate all the company’s logistics security activities, anticipate risks and plan operations as best as possible;
PROFILE AND RESEARCH SKILLS
Bac + 4/5 in Logistics and Transport Management, Supply Chain, or Business School;
12 years of professional experience in the field including 5 years in a similar position and in an industrial multinational in Cameroon;
Good knowledge of Commerce, Negotiation, Sales and Distribution techniques;
Good knowledge of industrial and logistics techniques;
Good knowledge of health & safety regulations;
Manager with strong interpersonal and communication skills and mastery of the local social environment;
With a strategic vision, good people management skills, voluntary/determined,
Resilient with very strong integrity and a pronounced sensitivity to the safety of property and people;
Bilingual (French and English): Good level of oral and written communication in both languages;
