Position title: Director of Trademarks and other Distinctive Signs
Category: C 4
Level (grade): Senior Executives
Date of entry into office: January 2023
Duration of appointment: Permanent post after a probationary period of two (2) years.
Administrative unit: Directorate of Trademarks and other Distinctive Signs

Place of employment: Yaoundé (Republic of Cameroon)
Eligibility condition

 

 

– Be a national of one of the OAPI member countries. With equal qualifications,
preference will be given to candidates from under-represented countries within
the Organization;
– Be under the age of 55 on the closing date for submitting applications;
– Enjoy their civil rights and be of good character.
Main responsibilities

 

 

Under the supervision of the General Manager, he/she is mainly responsible for:
– Developing and implementing the management action plan;
– Plan, coordinate, supervise and animate the various services;
– Implement the Bangui Agreement and relevant international conventions;
– Ensure compliance with procedures;
– Develop initiatives to increase the filing of trademarks,
industrial designs and models, geographical indications and trade names;
– Investigate and monitor the files for the maintenance of titles;
– Promote the system of trademarks, industrial designs and models,
geographical indications and trade names;
– Participate in the development and revision of related texts;
– Ensuring the management of employees;
– Prepare periodic reports for management.
Qualifications required
– have a postgraduate degree (BAC + 5) in law or a
design engineering degree;
– have at least ten (10) years of professional experience in a
supervisory or management position in the field of industrial property;
– have knowledge of the OAPI system, in particular the Bangui Agreement;
– have knowledge of project management;
– have knowledge of management;
– have knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);

– have a good command of French or English and a knowledge of the other
language;
– have a good organization in the work, be rigorous on the respect of
deadlines and be able to work under pressure.
Composition of the application
file The application file will include the following documents:
– a duly completed application form (available on the site www.oapi.int);
– an extract from the birth certificate or a certified true copy of the
birth certificate or the supplementary judgment in lieu thereof;
– a detailed curriculum vitae (certified by the administration of the last employer);
– an extract from the criminal record dating from less than three months;
– a certified copy of the diplomas, titles, certificates of qualification;
– a regularly established certificate of public or private jobs previously
held and indicating their duration;

 

 

 

 

– a medical examination certificate attesting that the candidate fulfills the
physical and mental aptitude conditions.
Remuneration
The position is classified in category C4 of the salary grid in force at OAPI. the
Recruitment is done at the 1st level. The person concerned will benefit from the advantages and indemnities
under the conditions provided for by the texts in force.
Elements of the recruitment file
The successful candidate must, prior to taking up service:
– present the originals of his/her diplomas, titles and civil status documents;
– provide a sworn statement of free engagement or, if he (she) is
a civil servant, an act of secondment.
