Recruitment Notice: Field Officer Protection
The delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for Central Africa in Yaoundé is looking for one (01) qualified Field Officer Protection of Family Links to strengthen the team of the “Protection” department according to the indications below:
Position based: Maroua (far north region of Cameroon)
Type of contract: 12-month fixed-term contract (offer reserved exclusively for nationals
Starting date: January 2023
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to understanding the needs of Protection of Family Links (PFL) of the sub-delegation and the development of appropriate responses;
Contributes to the planning of the PFL activities of the sub-delegation;
Implements the PFL activities of the sub-delegation (interview with beneficiaries, collection of files, insertion in the Prot 6 database, field research, etc.), according to the procedures in force
Ensures and maintains collaboration with the Cameroon Red Cross for PFL activities in the coverage area of the sub-delegation;
Contributes to the implementation and monitoring of the activities of the support program for families of missing persons;
Contributes to the implementation of the PFL response in favor of detainees and their families:
Contributes to the consolidation of statistics Protection of the sub-delegation:
Develops and maintains a network of relevant interlocutors on site and in the field (military authorities and civilians, non-State armed actors, civil society, NGOs Protection or DH, etc.) of its level
Contributes to operational communication within the framework of its activities;
Assists the Protection department with various clerical and administrative tasks, including report writing and translation.
REQUIREMENTS
License / Master 1 in Sociology, Law, Social Sciences or any equivalent diploma;
Two years of experience in the field of Protection or similar fields;
Good knowledge of at least two of the following local languages: Kanuri, Fulfulde, Hausa, Arabic Shoa;
Good experience in humanitarian work with very good analytical and reporting skills:
Good knowledge of computer tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook):
Good knowledge of the socio-cultural context of the Far North:
Excellent knowledge French and English, both spoken and written:
Ability to work independently and communicate regularly with superiors;
Ability to work within operational priorities and procedures;
Ability to show empathy and respect to beneficiaries, especially with people in distress;
Ability to work in a multicultural team.
