UNFPA is the United Nations lead agency for sexual and reproductive health, whose mission is to create a world where every pregnancy is wanted and every childbirth is safe, where every young person realizes their full potential. The UNFPA Strategic Plan 2022-2025 reaffirms the relevance of UNFPA’s current strategic direction and focuses on three transformative results: ending the unmet need for family planning, ending preventable maternal mortality and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. In this perspective, Cameroon is in its 8th Country Program focusing on the humanitarian-development-peace nexus and contributing to the achievement of these results.
In this context, the UNFPA Cameroon office is recruiting a Finance Intern with the aim, on the one hand, of providing students and young graduates from various academic backgrounds with exposure to development issues and experience in first hand with the day-to-day working environment at UNFPA and on the other hand to strengthen the human resources capacity of his office.
Description of services, activities or outputs:
The finance intern will be responsible for contributing to:
managing relations with payment service providers, including travel to said structures
the dashboard alert mechanism
speed case processing.
Duration and work schedule
3 months full-time
Workplace
Yaoundé, Cameroon
Progress monitoring and monitoring
Monitoring of activities and progress during the internship period will be done through regular meetings with supervisors, the monthly activity report and the final internship report .
Supervision
The Intern works under the authority of the UNFPA Representative and the direct supervision of the International Operations Manager and the Finance Associate, and collaborates with all Operations and program staff.
Expertise, qualifications and skills required, including language requirements:
Be enrolled in a Master’s program in Management, Finance or equivalent or;
Be enrolled in the last university year of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the field of Management, Finance or equivalent or;
Have obtained a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree during the year preceding the internship;
Integrity with UN values and moral standards
Adherence to UNFPA mission, vision and values
Ability to adapt in a work environment with cultural diversity;
Ability to share knowledge and experiences;
Ability to self-learn and apply newly acquired skills;
Endurance, ability to evolve in a stressful environment;
Ability to work in French, English;
Have a good knowledge of using the internet and MS Office tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Available throughout the course.
Services to be provided by UNFPA (eg support services, office space, equipment):
Logistic means will be made available to the intern.
