  1. About the Foundation

The  Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation  was created to catalyze Africa’s economic transformation by focusing on social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health and progressive policies that create economic opportunities for all. The Foundation works in partnership with local governments, policy makers, private businesses, civil society organizations as well as development partners to increase the resources available to entrepreneurs, farmers and small business owners in addition to improve individual livelihoods. This difficult mission is operationalized within itsSmall Business and Entrepreneurship Center (SBEC) , in synergy with the Nkafu Policy Institute . The former supports SMEs across the country and promotes business-friendly policies that drive innovation and job creation, while the latter is a non-partisan, independent think tank whose mission is to provide policy recommendations thorough and insightful. These platforms are strongly supported in their mission by dynamic communication and administration teams.

 

 




 

  1. Context

The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation, concerned with ensuring the best quality of services for its activities, is launching a call for applications for interpreters for its various on-site and online events. Interpretation should be simultaneous, international standard, in English and French. Interpreters would not be recruited as permanent staff but rather integrated into our pool of interpreters and called upon as and when needed, depending on their profile, before being offered a one-off contract requesting their services for a specific event.

 




 

  1. Conditions of eligibility

Interpreters must be native, read or have a good command of the target languages, including technical terms of the sector concerned by the events. Previous interpreting experience in the targeted areas would be considered an added advantage.

  1. Application instructions

  1. Responsibilities _

The interpreter must report to the office of the Foundation on the day of the event or to the venue of the event (when the event is organized in Yaoundé) at least 30 minutes before the start of the event. A concept note, discussion guides and the program of the event will be sent to the interpreter in advance so that he/she anticipates the production of a glossary to be submitted to the head of the communication department before the event . Interpretation facilities such as internet, headsets or laptops will be provided by the Foundation.

 

 

  1. Selection criteria _

Applicants must demonstrate the following skills and competencies

  • Skills _
  • Fluent in English and French languages ​​with a good command of the target language;
  • Be able to make a verbal report and be concise;
  • Be comfortable and have strong linguistic power in the target language;
  • Have good oral and written communication skills;
  • Be perfectly bilingual (English – French);
  • Have computer knowledge and be open to learning.

4.2 Education

Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in social sciences or interpretation

4.3 Experience

Have proven experience of at least three previous similar contractual experiences, or at least 2 years of experience as an interpreter in a well-established organization
