Whether it’s individuals, communities, businesses or governments, we’re part of a growing coalition calling on world leaders to put nature on a path to restoration by 2030. Together, we seek to protect and restore natural habitats, halt the mass extinction of wild fauna and flora, and ensure that our production and consumption patterns are sustainable.
The support project for the responsible management of communal and community forests in the TRIDOM landscape is part of the continuity of efforts to reverse the curve of loss of forest cover and biodiversity. The aim is to ensure that the exploitation of communal and community forests complies with standards that contribute to respect for the environment and the well-being of local populations.
For our National Program Office in Cameroon, we are a forest volunteer, with a view to mapping high value areas for local and indigenous populations, as well as degraded areas in its intervention landscapes.
Location: Yaoundé
Field of action: WWF intervention landscapes in Cameroon
Duration: 4 Months
Main responsibilities The volunteer will be responsible for:
• Mapping logging titles in WWF Cameroon’s intervention landscape;
• Contribute to the participatory mapping of areas of high conservation value and degraded areas in community and communal forests
• Contribute to the production of semi-annual technical reports of the project
Profile
Functional skills required
• Minimum Bac +5 in Geographic Information System (GIS )
• Mastery of GPS and mapping tool such as ARCView, ARCGis, QGis, Map Info etc) • Ability to communicate, and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Adheres to the values of WWF, which are: Collaboration, Courage, Integrity, aligns and identifies with the fundamental values of the WWF organization: Courage, Integrity, Respect and Collaboration.
