Recruitment notice: Graphic design intern

The  Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation  is recruiting   a Professional Intern-   Graphic Designer   who will be based in Yaoundé  . The intern will design graphics for use in media products such as magazines, web, labels, advertising and signage for the Foundation.

 




 

Typical activities will include:

  • Liaise regularly with external printers to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest quality;
  • Develop graphics, concepts and layouts for Foundation illustrations, websites and logos;
  • Manage the Foundation’s suggestions, from composition to design and printing;
  • Work with, brief and advise the Foundation regarding design style, format, print production and deadlines
  • Review final layouts and suggest improvements if necessary;
  • Determine the size and layout of descriptive material and text, as well as the style and size of the font;
  • Prepare drafts of material based on an agreed brief.
  • The graphic designer will primarily work eight to five, but deadlines may require overtime.
  • As part of the communications team and working in close collaboration with the Foundation’s graphic designer, the main responsibilities of the intern are to:
    • Contribute to the development of the Foundation’s communications policy which is the visual aspect;
    • Create a layout;

 

Organize and develop images to translate ideas and messages using graphic forms used on all types of media while respecting the Foundation’s graphic charter:

* Advertising projects (Brochures, Flyers, Posters, Packaging, Signs, Logos, Branding, etc.)

* Publication (Newsletter, On Policy Magazines, etc.)

* Audiovisual or television production (documentaries, music videos, television programs, TV films);

* Foundation Website and Social Networks (Facebook, Tweeter, LinkedIn)

    • Ensure the printing of visual communication materials

Qualifications and training required 

Although entry is open to non-graduates, preference will be given to those with relevant qualifications. A degree in graphic design is advantageous, although other art and design subjects will be accepted.

You will need at least one year of work experience and a portfolio of work to demonstrate your skills. Good knowledge of design software, such as Quark, InDesign or Illustrator, as well as photo editing software, including PhotoShop, is required.

  • Precision and attention to detail
  • Professional approach to time, costs and deadlines

Other skills and abilities:

  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to take initiative and complete project assignments independently and on time.
  • Organizational skills and effective and orderly execution of job requirements.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of privacy and confidentiality.

Working environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is generally low to moderate.
  • This is a smoke-free work environment.
  • This position will be full-time (40 hours per week).
