The Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation strives to catalyze Africa’s economic transformation through social entrepreneurship, science and technology, innovation, public health and progressive policies that create economic opportunities for all. Our areas of work include sustainable development, science and innovation, health, leadership, education, entrepreneurship, economics and public policy. The Denis and Lenora Foundation is a non-profit umbrella institution composed of several departments, including the Nkafu Policy Institute, the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Center, Communication and Sustainable Development Programs.
The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Center (SBEC) helps formalize, train and develop entrepreneurs so they can grow their business.
Objectives
The SBEC department is currently looking for 01 (one) intern. The SBEC Intern is responsible for providing support to the SBEC team regarding all activities and services deemed necessary to advance the mission of the department. He/She is bound to bring new ideas to the table when it comes to engaging more entrepreneurs through the SBEC network. This will have a strong focus on empowering women in the private sector to create and grow small and medium enterprises.
Main tasks
Create opportunities for mutual learning between small business owners through the organization of workshops/seminars;
Establish an extensive network of professional services to meet the many needs of small businesses across the country;
Develop a strategy to effectively enroll SMEs in the SBEC network;
Design and implement an essential skills program for all members of the SBEC network;
Design a concept note and program for all events;
Prepare draft report for all events
Mobilize participants at events;
Delivery of letters of correspondence during the preparation of events;
Update the attendee database after each SBEC event to increase the audience of constant contacts;
Take notes and produce reports during events;
Participate in events engaging the community;
Align its values with the mission, vision and values of the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation;
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Skills and qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
At least a bachelor’s degree in social and economic sciences or any other related field
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Fluency in English and French.
Mastery of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…).
Be a good communicator and a team player.
Be able to multi-task, be extremely organized and have meticulous attention to detail.
Desire to learn, take initiative and suggest best practices with a willingness to take and implement constructive feedback and advice.

What We Offer Internship Requirements:
We offer three (3) months of full-time internship with leading experts and scholars.
We also offer a transport allowance In-
house training and unlimited internet access.
Our interns have full access to research seminars, roundtables, workshops and discussion groups organized by the Nkafu Policy Institute and its partners, in addition to lectures on a wide range of emerging issues critical to business and political interests in Cameroon and in Africa at large.
Interns are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance for the duration of the internship. The Foundation declines all responsibility for costs resulting from accidents and/or illness or death occurring during the internship
The intern is responsible for organizing travel to and from Yaoundé where the internship will be carried out
Interns are not members staff and cannot represent the Foundation in an official capacity
The purpose of the internship program is not to lead to new employment with the Foundation, but to complete the studies of an intern. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship
Interns should bring their own laptop to the start of their internship
The intern will be evaluated at the end of the contract and recognition of the work will be issued in writing.
