For our National Office in Cameroon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed IT Expert for
Database Creation.
Reports to: Coordinator of the Impact Monitoring Program for the Congo Basin
Location: Yaoundé
Duration: One (1) year renewable
Mission of the department
The countries of the Congo Basin actively contribute to the results of certain themes (wildlife
, forests, food , climate and energy, fresh water and governance) implemented in their
respective programs.
A robust, integrated monitoring program has been designed and is being implemented to demonstrate the impacts of
conservation efforts and promote key conservation outcomes. The regional program manager
is engaged with the entire network to develop decision support tools such
as interactive dashboards and online databases with a user-friendly interface.
Hiring a senior IT expert in line with the current terms of reference
will help support these ongoing projects.
Main duties
Under the supervision of the Congo Basin Impact Monitoring Program Coordinator,
the IT Expert will lead the development of an online database that will support the
automated production and presentation of results in a structured and useful manner for decision making
and for easy storage of information/data. In close collaboration with other
team members and the TRIDOM-CIBEL project implementation team, the IT Expert
will gather all relevant information/data to create a user-friendly interface for the
Global Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon is recruiting an IT Expert
for Database Creation, reporting and communication. The IT Expert will also build a
related desktop and/or mobile application for all users.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Build a structured database based on Python or Java language.
Integrate queries that could produce the results and create graphs for trend analysis
.
Integrate web mapping into the database for spatial presentation of
query results.
Integrate high-level data modeling and analysis modules to facilitate the creation
of relevant results and future states.
Build a website for online operation of the database.
Develop related standalone software for the database for desktop and
offline use, where the desktop application could be updated online.
Profile
Required Qualifications
At least a Master’s degree in online database creation and management,
web mapping and programming, application development or related subjects.
At least 5 years of programming experience with Java and Python languages.
At least 3 years of experience in front-end and back-end development.
Proven experience in developing web applications and databases.
Required skills and competencies:
Familiarity with SQL language and database creation.
Good statistical and data analysis skills with a good understanding of
modeling processes using cross-sectional data from various sources.
Demonstrated knowledge of GIS and experience in Web mapping.
Experience in cloud computing and storage management will be an asset.
Able to work with minimal supervision.
Able to work effectively in diverse cultural environments.

He will work closely with the TRIDOM program managers in the countries, the
national monitoring and evaluation managers, as well as the national biomonitoring teams and
the regional team in order to collect the data necessary for the platform. online form. The position
will require direct supervision of the Impact Monitoring Coordinator for the Congo Basin.
● External
As part of the regional impact monitoring program, the position will require
close collaboration with partner organizations such as WCS, ZSL, IUCN, COMIFAC/OFAC, AWF, etc.
as well as universities and research centers working in the field of programming
