OFFER DESCRIPTION
CALL FOR INTERNAL/EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF A JUNIOR TECHNICAL ADVISOR IN CHARGE OF COMMUNICATION (M/F) FOR THE COMIFAC REGIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR THE SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF FORESTS IN THE CONGO BASIN OF THE DEUTSCHE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR INTERNATIONALE ZUSAMMENARBEIT (GIZ/COMIFAC) GmbH IN YAOUNDE.
Context
The GIZ COMIFAC regional program interacts with the technical cooperation and financial cooperation modules, strengthening the framework necessary for the implementation of the COMIFAC convergence plan – particularly at the political level (for example harmonized forest policies), strategic (sectoral strategies, guidelines for the participation of indigenous peoples, regional gender strategy) regulatory (for example, design of the legal framework for ABS (Access and Benefit Sharing) systems)
- The five components of the project are:
- Section 1: Strengthening the functioning of the COMIFAC system;
- Section 2: Learning and transfer to the COMIFAC system;
- Component 3: Participation of local and indigenous populations;
- Component 4: Strengthening forestry training;
- Component 5: Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS).
To accompany and monitor this dynamic, the COMIFAC Support Project (GIZ/COMIFAC) is looking for a (01) Junior Technical Advisor in charge of Communication for its Coordination Office in Yaoundé .
A- Areas of responsibility and powers
- Master and implement the GIZ communication strategy within the Program
- Contribute to increasing the visibility of the Program’s activities
- Contribute to the application of standards and guidelines governing the communication work of GIZ
- Master, develop and refine the internal and external communication strategy of the Program
- Plan communication activities
- Ensure the institutional communication of the Program
- Ensure the implementation of standards for external communication
- Coordinate and, if necessary, ensure the quality control (content, form, quantity) of communication tools with regard to Corporate Design
- Regularly share information and cooperate closely with the GIZ Office Communication Manager
- Ensure press relations in collaboration with the communication managers of the partners and the BRY
- Cultivate press relations and ensure effective media coverage of Program events
- Ensure visibility of programs with local media and provide information to visitors on technical matters
- Ensure media monitoring and put your relevant themes
- Manage the design/production of publications and public relations materials
- Support the organization of program events.
REQUIRED PROFILE
B- Profile required
1- Qualification and professional experience
- BAC+3/4 or Master in communication or specialty related to journalism or information and communication engineering.
- Have a certification in MS Office or equivalent experience
- Have a good command of computer network systems, database management software and all MS Office applications
- Have at least 2 to 3 years of professional experience in a similar position
- Practical experience in the field of development / international cooperation
2- Other knowledge/skills
- Very good knowledge of the institutions of the COMIFAC system
- A good knowledge of topics related to the management of natural resources, the environment and forestry
- Be familiar with international issues in the fields of forest conservation, biodiversity and climate, as well as with the actors of these fields and of development in the Congo Basin
- Have excellent writing and conceptual skills
- Have excellent management and organizational skills
- Have excellent communication skills
- Acquisition of the qualifications required in the field of assignment
- Very good working knowledge of the use of information and communication technologies as well as computer applications
- Good knowledge of French and English
- Ability to communicate adequately with interdisciplinary / multi-institutional teams
- Excellent analytical ability
Duty station: Yaoundé
Desired starting date: May 15, 2023
Duration of the contract: Two (02) years renewable
Deadline for admissibility of application files: April 11, 2023
Internal classification: Band 3T, under the supervision of the GIZ/COMIFAC Program Director
