Purpose: how this position support Plan International’s strategy and mission?
The Livelihoods Officer will be in charge of coordinating the food security and sustainable livelihoods intervention strategy within the framework of the BMZ project, which includes the rapid recovery and socio-economic empowerment of the targets of the said project.
ROLE DIMENSIONS:
Main roles and responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the BMZ Project Manager, the recruited Livelihoods Officer will:
Ensure that the strategy is implemented in compliance with the highest quality standards;
Provide technical support, with regard to the implementation of livelihoods activities and the preparation of reports in accordance with donor requirements, including the tracking of expenditures of the livelihoods component;
Develop an in-depth analysis of the food security and livelihoods situation through primary and secondary assessments and with due regard to gender, inclusion and diversity and the objectives of the project and the Country Strategy;
Coordinate rapid surveys and assessments, including training, planning, analysis and report writing. Ensure that appropriate supervision is carried out in the field and that protocols are respected;
Direct the use of the results of the investigations and analyzes carried out to ensure optimal performance of the project and design modifications as necessary;
Coordinate and network with other stakeholders to promote appropriate humanitarian and development programming within food security and livelihoods policies. This will include attending and engaging in relevant coordination meetings;
Determine within each Plan International intervention, the possibility of linking work on emergency food security and livelihoods with work on sustainable livelihoods;
Document lessons learned and best practices from the project and subsequently share them with relevant stakeholders.
Job requirements
Hold a postgraduate degree at Bac + 3 level in the fields of agriculture, animal sciences or in any other discipline that provides an understanding of food security and livelihoods programming, or equivalent training;
Have at least 3 years of experience in the management of food security and livelihood projects;
Have an in-depth understanding of humanitarian programming and sustainable livelihoods in various areas of intervention, including food security and livelihoods;
Have a good understanding of the importance of gender, inclusion and diversity in the planning and implementation of food security and livelihoods activities;
Be sensitive to cultural differences and be able to work in a wide variety of contexts;
Have a perfect knowledge of the context of the Far North region.
