applications.

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a Catholic non-governmental organization that provides
services to refugees and forcibly displaced people in more than 50 countries around the world.
JRS is a work of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). As stated in its Charter, JRS
‘s mission is to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and displaced persons. This
mission is rooted in faith in God who is present at the heart of human history, even in its

DESCRIPTION OF THE LOGISTICIAN ASSISTANT JOB

Responsibilities
Management of vehicles/rolling machinery and movements:
 He is responsible for the proper maintenance of vehicles and equipment and the
management of their movements in the area of ​​intervention;
 He sets up a maintenance schedule and checks compliance with procedures
maintenance and management of the car fleet and generators;
 It monitors consumption, reports consumption and calculates the costs
of the car-motorcycle fleet;
 Under the supervision of the Logistics Coordinator, he manages the national air movements
of the staff.
Inventory and store management:
 Collects the logistical needs of the base and the projects;
 He ensures that the goods are checked on entering and leaving the warehouse/store;
 He supervises the reception of deliveries and cargoes by road and/or air flight;
 He monitors stocks, limits storage losses and ensures the use of
reporting tools/formats;
 He ensures that the warehouses/stores have rules of use and that they are
respected by the users.
Inventory management: He ensures the correct management of the inventory of goods and
equipment, in coordination with administration and finance.
NTC management: He is responsible for the correct management and maintenance of
the communication equipment in his base.
Management of facilities: He is responsible for the correct management and maintenance
of the JRS offices and houses of the competence project.
Administrative management: Under the supervision of the Project Director, he ensures the
administrative follow-up of equipment, visas, declarations and payments to be paid to the
state services.

 

 

 

Job Title: Logistician Assistant

Base: – Cameroon: Batouri, Bertoua, Garoua-Boulai, Yaoundé, Douala
– CAR: Bangui, Bambari, Bria

Country: Cameroon and CAR Region: West Africa
Supervisor’s title: Project Director Supervisor’s headquarters Depending on the area
of ​​intervention

Purchasing management and supply chain: He ensures that the purchases and
supply of goods and services are carried out according to the project purchasing plan and within
the time required for the proper implementation of activities and the proper functioning
of the base and sub-bases, in compliance with JRS and donor procedures.
Logistics staff management:
 He manages, supervises and trains the logistics staff (drivers, guards,
cleaning and maintenance workers) assigned to the base;
 He manages the drivers, constantly making them aware of 4×4 driving, the use
of radios and vehicle kits, the safety of passengers and property and all their
responsibilities;
 He briefs the radio operator and guards and supervises their activities.
Security:
 He is responsible for the security of the goods and properties of the base;
 Under the supervision of the logistics coordinator, he supports the Project Director in
the management of security-related aspects;
 He ensures the application and proper monitoring of the base security plan and its updating, as well
as the various instructions given by the Base Manager or the Logistics Coordinator
;
 It develops its own security information collection network to supplement
the information obtained through INSO and UNDSS, contributes to the internal Skype group, and sends
specific reports monthly, or according to the security conditions of the area
concerned;
 He writes and transmits within 48 hours to his hierarchy a report for any
security incident involving JRS personnel.
Reporting and archiving: He prepares the monthly logistics reports and all the
reports and instruments requested by the organization.
Supervision of the bases, verification and controls: He directly monitors all the
operations of identification, opening and logistical arrangements of the JRS base in
project, and subsequently supervises the sub-bases with regular visits to the
field, in order to verify the proper and correct application of the logistical procedures.
He performs all possible and additional tasks entrusted to him by the
hierarchy.

Evaluation
 Participate in the identification of problems related to logistics and new
opportunities;
 Propose useful actions to improve the department;

 Participate in the evaluation of the department’s expected results.
Profile of Candidate
Education

 At least 2 years of experience in logistics management on
humanitarian projects;
 Diploma attesting to higher education in logistics,
professional training in electricity or automobile mechanics would be an
additional asset;
 Safety training.
 Hold a Category A and B driving license
Experience
 Experience in managing tenders and purchasing procedures;
 Experience in crisis management and security procedures;
 Excellent writing skills and knowledge of the Office package.
Skills
 Ability to work in basic conditions and to adapt to life in the field;
 Excellent organizational capacity; flexibility, strong sense of initiative and autonomy
in work;
 Excellent ability to work under pressure;
 Excellent ability to work in a team and by objectives;
 Ability to train employees as needed;
 Ability to work in a sensitive and complex political and security context and
in a multicultural environment;
 Compulsory mastery of the French language (written and oral).
