SSA Project Logistics Assistant (G5/Yaoundé and Regions)

Duration: 2 months renewable depending on performance and budget
Duty Station: Yaounde and Other Regions – Cameroon

PROFILE

1. Background and justification
a) Purpose of the position

Within the framework of the WHO health emergency incident management system, the incumbent will have the general responsibility of ensuring the technical supervision of the various constructions and rehabilitations in the regions (Centre , West and East) of the Country,

 b) Objectives of the program and immediate strategic objective

The mission of the WHO Health Emergencies Program (the Programme) is to assist countries and coordinate international action to prevent epidemics and emergency situations, to prepare for them, to detect them, to respond quickly and to recover from them with the rehabilitation of health structures in good condition.

 

 2. Responsibilities

The ALP Project Logistics Assistant effectively guarantees the implementation and monitoring of construction and rehabilitation works with the resources, procedures, tools and standards defined by WHO

Under the direct responsibility of the WHO Logistics Expert, participates to:
1. In collaboration with the Logistician, proposes improvements for the establishment of a strategy and the technical implementation of procedures at the level of construction and rehabilitation works, adapted to the team of each Health District
2. Provides site logistics management and WHO property management rules. 3. Controls, analyzes and evaluates the performance of the contractors contracted on the sites and provides adequate technical support when necessary and in collaboration with the TL.

4. Ensures the maintenance and monitoring of equipment, OMS placed at its disposal (office automation or IT)
5. Monitoring construction work in health structures (boreholes, rehabilitations and waste treatment areas)
6. Monitoring the good progress of the work and communicate in a timely manner for a recovery in the event of possible misunderstandings on the construction sites.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Studies in Civil Engineering or similar training, Logistics or

Water Engineering).
• Have at least 2 to 3 years or more of experience in the field of Logistics and

construction with a Humanitarian NGO or a related field.
• Field work experience and ability to work under pressure.
• Organizational skills, ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
• Knowledge of computers, familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Fluent in French and English. Proficiency in a local language would be an

asset.

  Desirable:
• Organizational capacity in prioritization and anticipation.

• Have in-depth knowledge in the management of subcontracted sites.
