1. Context
Under the leadership of the regional office in Dakar and closely linked to interventions in the neighboring Central African Republic (CAR), DRC began its operations in Cameroon in 2018 by responding to the humanitarian needs of CAR refugees and vulnerable Cameroonians in the region. ‘Adamaoua. The Emergency Roving Team (EMPACT) also established the presence of the DRC program in the South West region in late 2018 to respond to the needs of forcibly displaced people in the context of the Anglophone crisis, by commencing humanitarian activities in January 2019. DRC Cameroon is currently implementing emergency protection, food security and livelihoods projects in the Adamaoua, East and South-West regions. As part of its activities,
2. Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Manager, the Maintenance Agent will be responsible for ensuring that the office and other work areas are clean.
3. Tasks
• Sweep the floor and stairs every morning (taking care not to damage electrical equipment such as inverters, electrical wires, etc.);
• Thoroughly wash the floor, stairs and other areas at least three times a week;
• Dust desks, walls and cabinets daily (taking care not to damage office equipment in the dusted areas);
• Clean office sinks, toilets and washrooms once a day;
• Clean and dispose of office waste at least once a day;
• Keep the kitchen clean at all times. Be sure to clean the interior of the refrigerator at least once a week.
• Maintain garden areas around the office.
• Inform the line manager of any necessary repairs or replacement of maintenance equipment;
• Plan monthly purchase of all cleaning items to be submitted to line manager (cleaning fluid, trash bags, soap, toilet paper, etc.)
• Prepare tea or coffee for meetings/formal occasions.
These tasks are not exhaustive and may be readjusted according to operational needs while respecting the overall role of the Maintenance Agent.
4. Qualifications required
• Level of study: school diploma or equivalent (BEPC, Baccalaureate);
• Professional experience of at least 1 year in office maintenance;
• Experience with an international NGO is an asset;
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Highly motivated, results-oriented and creative in problem solving
• Good understanding and commitment to DRC values.
• Fluency in written and spoken French is mandatory;
• English would be an asset.
5. General Regulations
• The employee must follow DRC’s instructions regarding security, confidentiality and ethical guidelines, including the code of conduct and the humanitarian responsibility framework
• The employee must not engage in any other paid activity during the term of the DRC contract without prior authorization
• The employee must not engage in any activity that could harm DRC or the implementation of any project during the term of the DRC contract
• The employee must not grant media interviews or post photos related to DRC programs or share other materials without receiving prior permission
• The employee must return all equipment loaned by DRC to perform the work after the end of the contract period or upon request by DRC.
