www.moneytrees.cm platform to support landscape restoration and small forest enterprises.

About WWF
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1961 which works in the field of nature protection. Its mission is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth. Our vision is to build a future in which people live in harmony with nature. Thus, it seeks to: save the planet by balancing the needs of human beings with those of other species that share the Earth, practice human conservation in the broadest sense, and instill in people everywhere a quiet but undisguised respect , nature and balancing that respect with a deep belief in human possibilities, inspiring others who can further the cause of conservation.

The background:

In 2021, WWF endorsed the RPF Initiative in Africa covering 09 countries, including; Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, DRC and Cameroon. Through this initiative, WWF aims to restore 13.5 million hectares of degraded landscapes across Africa by 2027. More information on this initiative can be found here. It should be noted, however, that Cameroon alone in 2017 committed to restoring over 12 million hectares of its degraded landscapes through the Bonn Challenge and AFR100 platforms. On this commitment, more than 80% of the seriously degraded landscapes are in the 03 regions of the North of the country (Adamaoua, North and Far North), a region which is also home to about 34% of Cameroonians estimated at 22 million

WWF CCPO has worked in Cameroon for over 30 years and remains one of the largest nature conservation organizations in the country with a very wide geographical coverage. WWF CCPO pulled out of the northern regions more than half a decade ago due to restructuring and the need to redefine its core focus areas. Now, with a particular focus on inclusive and people-centered conservation, prioritizing the rebuilding of man’s broken relationship with nature, WWF, through its FLR Initiative in Africa (FLRinAI), has adopted a very bold ambition for Cameroon. As part of FLRinAI, WWF has identified the
As a result, a recent internal RPF planning session defined how this 300,000 ha restoration target should be distributed across five WWF-supported landscapes; TNS, TRIDOM, Campo Ma’an, Coastal Forests and now Savane du Nord. As the Northern Savannah is the only landscape where field activities are not currently taking place, a sub-national Restoration Opportunity Assessment (ROAM) methodology was implemented in UTO FARO, BENOUE in 2021. This ROAM report has identified a significant area of severely degraded landscapes, and within them characterized the nature of degradation, restoration opportunities as well as restoration packages with good potential for success.

So today, WWF CCPO has developed a work plan for January to June 2023, completed a sub-national ROAM in the North, launched FLRinAI in Yaoundé and Garoua, and has baseline datasets with which to start s engage with pre-identified people. stakeholders; land users (e.g. local councils, Lamidas, outgrowers), restoration service providers (e.g. soil fertility and agroforestry researchers, nursery managers) and investors in the landscape restoration (private and parapublic sector investors; FACET POWER, etc.) according to the @moneytrees proposal.

WWF CCPO has a one-month window to update information on the @moneytrees platform. To this end, it is looking for a dedicated technical assistant with both the minimum level of knowledge and experience in natural resource management, mastery of technology, IT and useful quantitative skills; some experience of stakeholder engagement and in particular a good knowledge of FLRinAI and WWF core values and standards. Additional attributes are described below.

WWF CCPO is committed to accelerating landscape restoration in the Northern Region of Cameroon through innovation, private sector involvement and through a performance-based system. To facilitate this, the platform functioning as an online “marketplace” www.moneytrees.cm bringing together the main stakeholders of the restoration of the FLR must be administered. The administration task will also involve working with the collaborative platform www.restor.eco to facilitate the real-time monitoring needed to drive fundraising for RPF.
To set them up and manage them, WWF CCPO is looking to hire a technical assistant to help take the platform to the next level. The selected candidate will be awarded an initial contract which will not exceed 1 calendar month and will include training on the use and management of the @moneytrees platform, the use and manipulation of @restor.
