Founded in 1949, SOS Children’s Villages International is an international social development organization working in more than 136 countries and territories around the world to meet the needs and protect the rights of vulnerable children. While focusing its work on children who do not benefit from parental education or children in difficulty in various circumstances, the organization has developed several programs including children’s villages, youth centers, family support, schools and nurseries, learning centers and mother-child health centers, family strengthening programs, etc. in each country where it operates.

SOS Children’s Villages is committed to creating and maintaining a warm and protective environment. It promotes its fundamental values, prevents and treats the abuse and exploitation of children. We strongly condemn all forms of child abuse and exploitation, whether within or outside our organization. We always respond to any case of proven abuse, allegation or temptation of abuse within our sphere of influence according to its nature. We ensure that mechanisms are in place to raise awareness, assist in prevention, encourage reporting and facilitate responses. These mechanisms range from human resource development actions such as training and counseling to measures such as suspension, dismissal and legal action.



Placed under the direct supervision of the Representative of SOS Children’s Villages International, the National Director (M/F), directs the activities of the organization as an executive authority. He develops the program and ensures that quality services are provided to children, youth, families and communities while respecting the vision, mission and values ​​of the organization. The National Director (M/F) seeks the financial autonomy of the organization through fundraising and the development of institutional partnerships. He/She ensures the implementation and compliance with the standards of the human resources manual and the internal regulations, financial management, in particular the establishment of an internal control system, and the development and budget monitoring.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Strategic and annual planning:

Coordinate the preparation and conduct of the planning workshop.
Ensure that annual plan reviews are done every three months and that annual reports are prepared and annual statistics collected.
Human resources and organizational development:

Ensure that all human resources management decisions comply with local laws
Ensure the implementation of the standards of the human resources manual and internal rules {0>
Put in place an effective team at National Management, guaranteeing guidance and support to its members in perfect diversity.
Supervise national management officials and children’s village coordinators.
Establish an effective performance management system including human resource development.
Contribute to the local anchoring of the National Association.
 




 

 Financial management:

Set up a budget preparation and monitoring system, and internal control
Ensure the preparation of financial reports and the implementation of recommendations from financial supervision and external audit

 Program development:

.Ensure the implementation of the organization’s policies in terms of child care and the existence of a program monitoring and evaluation mechanism.
Organize exchanges of useful experiences between the programmes.
Implement advocacy projects in-country through partnerships with like-minded NGOs, and nurture media relations for advocacy work

 International Sponsorship:.

Set up a system for monitoring the implementation of the international sponsorship manual

Relations with the government:

.Establish good relations with the public authorities and prepare the signing of agreements with the government in synergy with the International Regional Office.
Sensitize the government on the role of the organization on behalf of children, and seek recognition and support for work on behalf of children.

  Communication, public relations and fundraising:

.Coordinate the development and implementation of a strategic and operational plan for communication, public relations and public and private fundraising with a view to achieving the financial autonomy of the National Association

 Brand development:

Ensure the implementation of international recommendations relating to the brand

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT):

Ensure the implementation of standards and recommendations international and regional organizations in ICT
Ensure the proper use and protection of electronic assets (infrastructure, software and data)

 Construction:

Collaborate with the WCNA Region International Office in the preparation of construction and renovation projects
Participate in the reception of infrastructures and ensure their equipment.

Child safeguarding and PHEAS (prevention against harassment, exploitation and sexual abuse):

Participate in trainings in child safeguarding, in PHEAS (prevention against harassment, exploitation and sexual abuse) including the online training courses developed by SOS Children’s Villages and implementing the learning outcomes.
Ensure that the activities of SOS Children’s Villages in Cameroon are carried out in accordance with the child safeguarding standards and the PHEAS (prevention against harassment, exploitation and sexual abuse) of SOS Children’s Villages

Qualifications

Master’s degree in management, business management, project management or economics.
At least 8 years of senior management experience in a large organization, preferably an international NGO.
Experience in one or more of the following operational areas: management, human resources management, finance, marketing, social services, education management, community development.
An experience of at least five (05) years in a similar position in an international organization is a great asset.
Mastery of the French language and good knowledge of English.
Good knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Experience or solid training in child protection.
Availability to travel inside and outside the country.

Yaoundé, Cameroon with frequent field missions and supervision at program implementation sites.
