POSITION MISSIONS:
Under the supervision of the Purchasing Director, the Non-Food Purchasing Manager’s mission is to
manage the process of acquiring non-food goods for the
company’s stores, in order to achieve quantitative and qualitative objectives in terms of goods and services.
It strongly contributes to a good dynamic of the company’s economy by minimizing
purchasing expenses, in order to maximize profits during sales, while ensuring that the
quality standards of the products or services purchased correspond to the company’s requirements.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PURCHASING POLICY
• Participate in the development/updating of the purchasing procedure;
• Participate in defining the assortment strategy;
• Select the assortments to purchase according to the strategy;
• Determine quantities for each product, a purchasing schedule and
expected margins (linked to company strategy);
• Develop contracts (possibly framework agreements) with suppliers in liaison
with the company’s legal department;
• Transmit signed contracts to commercial and procurement departments;
• Study and define the supplier referencing program;
• Supervise the management of the supplier database;
• Resolve commercial and financial disputes.
SUPPLY MANAGEMENT
• Develop specifications for the quantities of products, deadlines, quality and
financial conditions desired;
• Launch calls for tenders based on specifications;
• Select the best offers and negotiate prices with suppliers taking into account
all the determinants of the order: quantity, delivery times and conditions,
financial conditions granted, promotional operations, end-of-year discounts;
• Supervise supplies and ensure compliance with contractual clauses (quantity
of products, quality, delivery times, possible DLC [use-by dates],
etc.);
• Contribute to the optimization of logistics.
MARKET MONITORING AND PROSPECTING
• Monitor and analyze sales in order to possibly modify store layouts and
develop commercial operations (in close connection with points of sale);
• Calculate, monitor and analyze margins;
• Analyze the markets for the products in its portfolio based on market studies as well as
their sales statistics within the brand to know demand trends
;
• Research in depth the products in your portfolio so as to have
a very detailed knowledge of them;
• Regularly monitor the offering of new products (visiting trade fairs,
specialized publications, competitive monitoring, etc.).
TEAM MANAGEMENT
• Distribute work and set objectives for employees;
• Support employees in carrying out their missions;
• Monitor, record and evaluate employee performance;
• Evaluate the skills of employees;
• Coordinate and participate in the implementation of the safety and environment policy within
the unit;
• Manage the unit’s budget and resources;
• Participate in all other activities at the request of the hierarchy (seminar,
budget conference, etc.);
• Organize continuity of service in the unit.
PROFILE
Training and Professional Experience:
Academic level: Bac+4/5 in Commerce and Management
Language level: French (fluent) and English (intermediate)
Professional experience: minimum 05 years of experience in a similar position and having already
managed a team of at least 05 people.
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
• Excellent knowledge of the entire purchasing process and the logistics and
supply chain;
• Knowledge of project management;
• Knowledge of the competition and the catchment area; • Good knowledge of the company
‘s commercial activity development prospects ; • Mastery of commercial indicator analysis tools; • Knowledge of the company’s partners and their products; • Good command of IT tools and in particular the ERP/software packages used by the company; • Knowledge of import/export constraints and procedures: customs, documentary credits, transport, insurance, etc.;
• Legal knowledge in order to understand the regulatory constraints to which
the company is subject;
• Good negotiation skills;
• Good adaptation capacity ;
• Be rigorous and methodical;
• Have relational ease;
• Be a force of proposal and conviction;
• Have a sense of listening and communication;
• Have good managerial skills.
