PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Providing nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’
prescriptions, protocols applied I service and universal hygiene standards/precautions,
in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.

MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES
Responsibilities |
Admissions
Welcoming and installing patients
Register the patient (surname, first names, age, origin)
Participate in the drafting of the patients file
Assist the doctor during the examination of patient
Administer quality care according to medical instructions
Record all discharges and explain appointments

If applicable, ensure the Sexually Gender Based Violence victims are referred to
specialized domain for necessary treatment
Participate in the health education of the patient (and family) when necessary
Hospitalization and Intensive care
It is all about ensuring quality care and self-monitoring of the patient;
Administer prescribed care
Taking and monitoring vital signs (T0, pulse, RR, BP, O2 Sat etc)
Ensure compliance with prescribed medication and administration schedules
Monitor biological constraints
Document al treatment on monitoring sheet
Respect hygiene measures of the wards and courtyard
Carryout the visit in pediatric hospitalization, in transition phase and in phase II
Make proposals for discharged of patients from hospitalization and submit them for
the approval of the doctor
Inform the doctor of any deterioration in the patient’s condition during his work
period
Supervision of written and oral communications within the team and between
teams
Ensures written transmission of all specific events that have taken place during the period
of work in the service (new admissions, transfers, deaths) and make a written and oral
transmission at the time of handover before the descent of the service.
Prohibitions (sanctions for these will be by immediate dismissal without notice
and balance of all accounts):
To consume any alcoholic or other drug during working hours
To use the organization’s equipment and/or materials for private purposes
To leave duty post during working hours without proper authorization from
supervisor and proper handover
To sleep while on duty
Others
Ensure proper use and maintenance of biomedical equipment
Participate in the inventories of the internal pharmacy of the care units
Work in collaboration with members of the entire team in the health facility and the
staff of the partners with whom we are in contact (MOH staff).
Actively participate in hospital events (meetings, committees, etc)
Availability for any assessment of health-related action throughout the health district
and according to identified needs
In all areas of activity, make proposals for improvement or adaptation
Adherence to ALIMA-DEMTOU philosophy
Can be requested for a reference

EXPERIENCES, SKILLS AND QUALITIES
Bachelor degree in nursing, state registered nurse, HND/HPD in nursing)
At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position
Experience in a humanitarian medical response setting
Experience in team management and coaching
Ability to analyze and organize
Critical sense and strength of proposal
Autonomy and curiosity
Flexibility and stress management
Strong listening and empathy skills
Ability to work in a team with multicultural contexts
Rigor
Previous experience with ALIMA or other NGOs in Cameroon is an asset.
Being domiciled in Menji is an advantage.
Languages: English compulsory, French an asset
