SUMMARY OF THE CoSMO PROJECT

 




 

The 5-year, approximately US$33 million Consolidating Systems and Services for the Management Of Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Cameroon (COSMO) Project funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) cover 68 health districts across all 10 regions Of Cameroon. The program is being implemented by a consortium Of local organizations led by the National Episcopal Conference of Cdmeroon (NECC) since January 1, 2023.
The OVC program addresses the challenges Of sustainable care and support to OVC by strengthening the capacities of the Government Of the Republic of Cameroon (GRC), civil society, communities, and households to provide quality care and support to HIV-infected and affected children in Cameroon. Under the leadership of NECC, subrecipients’ partners, the Government of Cameroon and other stakeholders are working collaboratively to reach about 65,000 OVC and their families in health districts across the country where the HIV burden is high. The program consists of HIV prevention and case finding activities for OVC as well as ensuring community support for linkage to care and retention among children and adolescents living with HIV with the goal of contributing to HIV epidemic control by achieving and sustaining the 95-95-95 targets of UNAIDS.
TERMS OF REFERENCE JOB Summary
Under the supervision of the Chief of Party, the Project Assistant will be responsible for facilitating the implementation and management of the project by ensuring the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of project implementation through results. He/she will also support the planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation Of project activities where necessary.
 

 

Duties and responsibilities
Support Implementation, guaranteeing quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
Provides administrative and operational support on implementation of project(s).
Assist in projects financial resource management and resource mobilization.
Supports the elaboration Of projects related Terms of Reference.

Participate in the preparation and selection processes for Letters of Agreements. Support the writing and distribution of project-related messages, such as memos and status updates.
Follow-up, on a daily basis, with project partners and donors, to guarantee smooth implementation Of project and operational activities.
Maintain up-to-date files and records of project documentation and progress reports.
• Support the scheduling of meetings, conference calls, and project-related events when needed.
Assist in the preparation of project presentations when necessary.
Provide logistical support for workshops, travel and other meetings as required.
Assist the processing of project-related travel arrangements when necessary.
Supporting planning, monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
Support the elaboration Of project work plans.
Support the organization of project reviews/tripartite meetings.
Creating timelines, milestones, and deliverable to contribute to effective project planning while following up on the progress of action items etc.

 

 

Support the timely preparation and submission of progress reports, donor reports, project reviews, financial reports, audit reports and any other required project reports.
Evaluating the performance of zones in the project with close collaboration with the program and operation unit; taking into consideration the special circumstance for each zone or partner of the project.
Give administrative support to Heads of Sections and other staff.
Using project management software to maintain process flows etc.
Carry out other similar activities as assigned by the Supervisor or the General Secretary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience
A Bachelor’s degree in business administration and management, or in project management, is required. A Master’s degree would be an asset.
At least 2 years’ professional experience in project support.
Knowledge or previous experience in the management of USAID/PEPFAR funded projects is highly desirable. Experience in facilitation, participatory action planning and/or community engagement required.
Experience in project writing WOULd be an asset.
Experience in using MS Windows and MS Office software packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Good relationship management skills and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Travel required: Regular travels within the region / zone covered in Cameroon.

SUMMARY OF THE CoSMO PROJECT

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Chief of Party, the Project Assistant will be responsible for facilitating the implementation and management of the project by ensuring the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of implementation of the project through results. He/she will also support the planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of project activities when necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and experience
• A bachelor’s degree in business administration and management, in project management, is required. A Master’s degree would be an asset.

Knowledge or prior experience in managing USAID/PEPFAR funded projects is strongly desired.
Experience in facilitation, participatory action planning and/or community engagement required.
