International Medical Corps has been present in Cameroon since 2008 to provide assistance to the thousands of Central African refugees who have crossed the border and taken refuge in Cameroon following the political and social unrest that has taken place in CAR since 2005. International Medical Corps provides care essential health and nutrition services to more than 75,000 Nigerian refugees in Minawao refugee camp in the Far North region, according to the latest data from UNHCR and its partners.

Missions and responsibilities

Primary objective

In close collaboration with the Supervisors and other technical staff of the project, the Project Manager contributes, under the responsibility of the Field Coordinator, to ensuring the design and supervision of the implementation of the UNICEF project in the communes of Garoua-Boulai , Bétaré-Oya, Mandjou, Kette, Ouli and Kentzou (East region), including capacity building, planning and implementation of activities, management, monitoring, reporting and budget coordination.

 

 

Job summary:

The Project Manager works under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of field activities such as providing technical and operational support to the field team to ensure good work performance, analyze GBV and child protection trends, service gaps in focus areas and suggest ways to develop/adjust program strategies to meet needs, Contribute to program design and in the preparation of concept notes, proposals and the report. He/she provides daily technical support and coaching to the project team and partners or stakeholders.

Responsibilities

        1. Specific tasks:

Work closely with the coordination team to understand program objectives and meet expectations, achieve program objectives and determine operational needs;

    • GBV and child protection trends, service gaps in areas of intervention and suggest ways to develop/adjust program strategies to meet needs; – Contribute to the development of concept notes and proposals for any other program; – Contribute to the development of a project monitoring and evaluation system; – training materials to build the capacity of MINAS, MINPROFF staff, staff, community organizations and members of women’s associations in the area of ​​protection (GBV and child protection) and livelihoods ; – Lead the development of work plans, expenses and supplies for the program and ensure that they correspond and are applied by all program staff in the areas of intervention; – Provide technical advice and support to project staff and other teams in relation to project activities to ensure that programming objectives are successfully achieved; – Collaborate with all community programs in the areas of intervention for the strengthening of the community protection mechanism; – Identify partners and points of service and support for people in need of protection assistance; – Actively participate in protection working groups (GBV and PC and contribute to inter-agency initiatives; – Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, in particular through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct; – Ensure compliance with donor financial rules;

2. Education/Training, experience and skills

Education/Training :

• Master 2 in social sciences, public health, international development or other relevant field of study preferred

 

 

Experience :

• At least five years of field experience, including experience managing and protecting GBV or/or child protection programs;

• Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects;

• Supervisory experience with strong team management skills;

• Experience in managing emergency and/or development projects and in behavior change communication (BCC).

Skills/Attitudes:

• Good knowledge of transversal protection

• Good knowledge in the field of participatory development approaches

• Good knowledge of plant and animal production

• Great capacity for human contact, diplomacy, self-control, interest in cultural differences, availability, flexibility, ability and motivation to work in a team, ability to manage stress and live in an isolated context, diligence, tenacity, determination, integrity, adaptability, sense of initiative, ease of communication, sense of responsibility, respect for the framework and teamwork.

3. Others:

  • Security :

– Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies;

– Consider the security implications of all program activities, reviewing all new initiatives with other staff, community leaders and volunteers.
